Unless they're on Fandango and they'll pop up when people are considering going to the new theater or getting those 1am 3D seats in the front row

Except BOPro was not "very wrong" about MPR opening but it's legs which are not part of tracking and their prediction fell in line with official tracking so...

Back in Novemeber everyone predicted that the trades would not be able to track this movie so they go with the lowest possible number.  It's a true wildcard and they do not know what to do with it. Even Scott doesn't know what to do with it.

In the same article Scott pretty much admits he has no idea what he’s talking about. Comparing Jumanji (which had holiday legs to boost its gross) to Pikachu (which has a slew of blockbusters on its heels) so 

 

Also mind you box office pro has Pikachu on the low range of $75M which judging by Scott’s wording of what he expects to happen isn’t exactly off his prediction either

The Trades don't track, they all get their numbers from tracking services - the same place Scott got his

Nope.  That's why I'm still a little skeptical of them hitting that date. 

 

We'll see, I suppose.   Gonna be a little close to that neck of the woods today.  Maybe I'll swing by and see if they have any actual advertisements outside proclaiming an opening date.

Well, yes.  But then there's the folks who have their theaters all favorited and aren't sorting by city/zip code.  But fair enough.

 

FWIW, the theater is on Fandango, and has been for a month.  Just no showtimes or films yet.
