First count of today, only Thursdays-

Godzilla: KoTM-83 (+17), 8 screenings (3 IMAX, 3 3D, 2 Regular) Third Day

Aladdin-72, 7 screenings (2 IMAX, 2 3D, 2 Regular+Fan Screening)

John Wick-129 (+14), 4 screenings (2 IMAX, 2 Regular) Final week

KoTM officially passed Aladdin today and John Wick's continuing to be insane :ohmygod: Not looking good for Aladdin though.

YES! Actually, is this the case for just one theater? Or is this city wide?

Just my theater so do keep that in mind with my counts, always possible it's overperforming at my theater. It is however a good sign none the less imo.

Don't celebrate just yet. Godzilla is a fanboy movie. Of course it is going to do better in pre sales. Aladdin is a family movie, walk ups will be great. Just wait...

Monster movies have always been walk-up friendly. The even more fan-boy driven JW movies have also been pretty walk-up friendly.

JW movies were never fan-boy driven, there's no such thing as JW fan-base. That's pretty much why JW2 had normal drop from JW and that's why TLJ had huge drop from TFA. Walk-up driven franchise against fan-driven.

Jurassic Park maybe, but not Jurassic World.

Then who have I been arguing with about this franchise for the past 6+ years then. 🤔

>"Walk ups will be great"

>Trying to argue monster movies have big presales when the reason why both Kong and JW:FK got under predicted was weak presales but very good walk-ups

>Trying to argue Disney remakes aren't pre-sale heavy when BATB had incredible pre-sales

Im the living and breathing counterargument.

Id argue most JP-fans also like the JW films.

No JW:FK absolutely did not have a normal drop from JW on OW btw. TLJ's drop from TFA on OW was way healthier and less alarming then JW:FK's.

Jurassic World was okay, but Jurassic World 2 was horrible horrible movie, I doubt very much that most of the actual fans of Jurassic Park trilogy, not 5 year olds who like everything, like it. If Jurassic Park franchise had been fan-driven/had the actual fan base, JW2 would have had a huge drop from JW and Colin Trevorrow would have received tons of death threats and insults on his mail from angry fans, just like TLJ fallout after TFA and JW2 is much worse movie than TLJ.

No idea, the only person who kind of protected JW2 was Brainbug, but I haven't seen others.

I meant final WW gross, it was normal drop, OW doesn't really matter in this case. TLJ didn't have alarming OW, but it had alarming legs.

Jurassic Parks movies did beat the OW 2 times after the release of the first one, they are not WOM phenomenom, huge fan base.

JW 2 was better than the first imo, by a good amount, Bayona > Trevorrow (and it is not close).

Is that suggesting that Star Wars also does not have a fan-base ?

The exact opposite of that, Star Wars is the most fan-driven franchise ever, any wrong creative move will cause massive fallout that will affect box office. With Jurassic World they can release the worst movie ever (and they were really close) and nobody cares, it'll still make tons of money with alright legs and they can continue to do that until even strangers and 5 year olds will be disgusted by this franchise.

5 year olds and random strangers are not fan base. You can see a huge difference between reception/BO of walk-up driven franchise and fan-driven.
