I expect it to be closer to the MK comp, GvK OD is probably more fanloaded. The Quiet Place comp tomorrow morning will probably be the best gauge. I'll also have a GvK Friday comp.

In the Heights, counted today at 8am EST:

NY (AMC Fresh Meadows 7): 72 (7 showtimes)
Miami (AMC Sunset Place 24):
68 (5 showtimes)
Grand Rapids (AMC Grand Rapids 18):
2 (3 showtimes)
Austin (AMC Lakeline 9):
6 (2 showtimes)
Tempe/Phoenix (AMC Centerpoint 11):
0 (1 showtimes)
San Francisco (AMC Metreon 16): 124 (5 showtimes)
LA (AMC Universal):
200 (5 showtimes)

Total tickets sold in
7 theaters for June 11: 472.
Up 24% since the last counting on Monday. That doesn't look like the biggest jump but the Monday number was already very solid. And it's still ca. on par with AQP II which had last Thursday (means also 7 days before the release) 495 sold tickets. The Conjuring 3 had 349 sold tickets 8 days before its release on Friday.
My (as I said not perfect comps): Blinded by the Light (4.3M OW) had 102 sold tickets in 6 theaters (so here 472 tickets minus NY = 400) 1 day before its Friday release and Cats (6.6M OW) counted also 1 day before its previews on Thursday had 225 sold tickets in 6 theaters (again 472 tickets minus NY = 400) for Friday. So at the moment In the Height sold ca. 4x as many tickets as Blinded by the Light and and 2x as many as Cats. And of course it has 6 days left.
I would say that looks good but with the day and date release but OTOH these reviews and anticipation I don't want to speculate too much at the moment.

The Conjuring 3, only NY, counted today at 8am EST:

NY (AMC Fresh Meadows 7): 513 (10 showtimes)

Up nice 27% since yesterday. AQP II had on Thursday 340 sold tickets in NY for its previews (but was doing better at other places e.g. San Francisco).
Overall the shows looked crowded including front row bookings and even the 1am show had 18 tickets sold. I'm really curious how much the day and date release will hurt.

Thanks for these numbers. In the Heights will be #1 next weekend. Unless it's The Fault in Our Stars-type frontloaded, it looks like it will break out big time. Even though I am confident in a $35M+ weekend, I will predict a $20-25M weekend, which will still be awesome. I'm being cautious due to seating restrictions of COVID 19. WOM will be through the roof with this one if it correlates with reviews.

Yes, the WOM will decide and the OW is probably not so important. I did not expect wonders till today because all the recently released films did only fine in "my" theaters in their last week. I mainly counted  to have good jump comparisons next week. But so far it's at least clear that there's interest.

Ah, yes.  I edited the quote instead of the post.  Lemme go fix that.

Annnnd fixed.  Thanks for letting me know. 👍

(what I do is copy-n-paste my old post via edit and then go back and quote it so it looks nice and doesn't have that irritating white block that can appear when a standard copy-n-paste is done — looks like I accidentally put in the new info in the quote instead of the actual post)
