So about 3/4th of JC and 5/4th of FG at same time. Though due to absence of REGAL, MTC2 ratio will be higher, I expect 35K ish final Friday PS and 120-140K final for $5.5-6.5M Friday. That should lead to $17.5-21.5M.

Maybe...it's free day and date on Paramount+, and it could be the type of movie daycares and preschools and MOMS/MOPS Groups "field trip" for while their older sibs are in school...so between the 2 things, Friday could overperform like an HBO Max movie...

For those wondering about a "Paw Patrol" breakout...my local Cinemark set early this evening and only added 2 80 seat showings (1 12pm and 1 6pm) to get it to 6 showings overall for Paw Patrol (vs starting 4 with 100 seats each)...

Of the other openers, the only other that got expanded was The Night House (which got an extra 8pm showing for 5 showings)...

All others are expectedly single screened and same as presales...

Reminiscence Greater Philadelphia Area Seat Report T-4 and Counting

Sellouts Showings Seats Sold Total Seats Perct Sold
TOTALS 0 41 20 6030 0.33%

Comp

0.909x of Voyagers Monday Before Release (471K)

For the record, I can't use Those Who Wish Me Dead as a comp because they never revealed that movie's Friday number. However, Reminiscence is about 70% of Wish Me Dead at the same point in time, which is...yeesh material.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings Greater Philadelphia Area Seat Report T-17 and Counting

Sellouts Showings Seats Sold Total Seats Perct Sold
TOTALS 0 53 510 10790 4.73%

Comp

0.812x of F9 T-17 (5.77M)

0.626x of Black Widow's 1st Day of Presales (8.26M)

0.313x of Black Widow T-17 (4.13M)

2.297x of The Suicide Squad T-17 (9.42M)

So yeah, this is in line with what everybody else sees. Nothing earth-shattering, but still a very good first day that will ensure the doom and gloom predictions that people wanted to see happen were concerned could happen for this movie is nipped in the bud

Paw Patrol Friday

MTC1 - 9692/182767 103802.24 1215 shows.

Meh. But show counts could go up quite a bit tomorrow. Still NOT expecting a big OW based on MTC1.

Quite Ok IMO. 15+ shouldn't be an issue, checked BoP forecast was just 4-9M, so we are clear

Shang-Chi Denver Thursday Showings

AMC Westminster 24

Total 107 1752 6.11%

AMC Highlands Ranch 24

Total 76 1016 7.48%

SEATS SOLD SOLD PAST DAY TOTAL SEATS PERCENT SOLD THEATERS SHOWINGS

Black Widow day 1 comp: 7.21M

Suicide Squad comp: 7.00M

Fast 9 comp: 7.63M

My Black Widow day 1 count was at about 18 hours, about 17 hours for this, so pretty similar times. Most of my counts this week are probably gonna be late, so the comps might be a little janky. But it is what it is.

Shang-Chi Megaplex

T-17 days Thursday: 383/16744 in 15 theaters

T-18 days Friday: 216/34623 in 14 theaters

The Gateway is done with renovations, so all Megaplex theaters are online. I didn't start tracking Black Widow for several more days, so no comps for that

NYC Local (Regal)  Suffice to say people here are not buying early here but so far SC is well ahead of SS, JC and Freefall

Shang-Chi (1st day - as of Midnight) 5 showings (BW had 6, SS 4) -  33/1402

BW - no early comp

SS - 6 tickets one week into sales.

JC - 4 tickets 9 days before release - same as Tues before release.

Freefall - 6 a week before release.  20 - Wed before release

Reminiscence - 1 ticket over 4 shows (1204 seats) for Friday

I don’t think it’s fair to compare Shang-Chi with Black Widow. Those BW presales were astounding. Made me believe 100m was certain (and may have been without PA). Since Shang-Chi is a new hero, there isn’t as much as a frontloaded demand. The expectations should be more modest. And the sales trajectory will differ since I imagine Shang-Chi will pick up more steam closer to release

Its perfect candidate. Will keep the expectations in check.
