The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo

Just checked Regal.  They're still having "Value Days" on Dec 24th and the 31st.  No idea about AMC as we don't have them locally.

I dont think so. Anyway I dont think NYC and most Bay area AMC theaters dont do discount tuesday. Quick check across 800 shows at AMC for 24th do not show any discounts beyond usual ones for pre noon shows(which happens every day). Of course we wont until close to release and many shows have not sold any tickets(its still early except for Dolby/Imax etc).

It's interesting that the Marathon is nearly sold out in your area where at mine it's still a tick under half full (73/161).  It's cheaper than AMC to boot.

Makes me wonder if it's just the population/economic base differences at play or not.

The Marathon is playing at Arden, so it's not like it's at a underperforming theater, either.

Wonder how it's playing elsewhere.

(technically a Wed movie for the record)

This may have already been noted, I don't read every post here, but I just noticed that Cinemark has a note on their theater pages that they will not be having discounted Tuesdays between 12/20 and 1/2:

Big bummer - might have to get the Jumanji tickets early for 1st Tuesday (vs waiting for the holiday break)...and probably gonna certainly hold off on Star Wars for awhile b/c it's not gonna be worth $15/ticket for me...

next weekend’s Paramount/Skydance Media/Fox film Terminator: Dark Fate, which is eyeing $41M-$47M (still that’s a number that can be counter-programmed).

Interesting... Not seeing those numbers from anyone here so far.

Is that $18mn presale preview figure you mention here; happening? How would it compare to presaled preview money from TLJ and TFA?

That was couple of days ago. Based on show boost I am thinking preview PS must be in low 20's. I have no idea about TFA/TLJ as I did not track except anecdotal check that it was crazy everywhere.

So as a safe guess, what would you say the percentage of preview revenue are presales for a SW film? I'd imagine its pretty presale loaded. Would 60%-65% seem accurate?

After what seems like some solid improvement the last couple days, this was a very mediocre final Saturday, even if you want to argue the film's coming down to earth from overperforming yesterday. As of now, I'm hesitant on anything over 35M, let alone 40M.

So F2 is expected to go on sale Monday right? Seeing showtimes popping up

Still nothing locally, but yes that's the expectation. I was checking a couple of random AMCs around the country as they tend to show first but hadn't hit on one yet.

5pm Fan Events and 6pm previews, I presume?
