Dune is the movie getting me back to theaters, at least. I think the last one I saw in theaters was maybe Force Awakens? I have a nice TV and 4K Blu Ray player and I usually go that route. But Villeneuve is my favorite director and Dune is my favorite novel, so I gotta vote with my wallet on this one. I've got IMAX seats for Thursday, then I'll probably go home and immediately watch it again on HBO, then I'll probably buy the 4K disc as soon as it releases. I've been on a Dune media rampage this last year (read all six original Frank Herbert novels and his short story, plus several short stories and one novel [and counting] from his son and sidekick; also suffered through three horrible cuts of David Lynch's abomination, watched both cuts of the Sci-Fi Channel miniseries, watched the Children of Dune miniseries, and bought the first volume of the Dune graphic novel adaptation all within the last 12 months).

 

I'll be seriously bummed if the sequel doesn't get made but I feel like it's increasingly likely. From reading all of the posts here it seems like this movie should top Godzilla vs Kong domestically at least, and that plus decent HBO numbers should be enough to get the job done I would hope.

Shang-Chi comp removed 'till at least T-17 (it's first day of sales), and possibly later.  As expected, when shifting to T-x, the Black Widow comp took quite a hit due to BW being on sale for three more days than Eternals.  Should normalize somewhat quickly, but do keep the disparity in pre-sale length in mind when looking at it.

Looking at the ratios a bit more, Bond had 5.8 million between the 2 MTC, Halloween has probably ~6.5 million (with the vast majority of that advantage from MTC2). I don't know if MTC3 would be stronger for Bond or Halloween but with Bond getting 17m true Friday, I could see 18 for Halloween if MTC3 can cancel out Canada.

The consistency in pace has been very impressive.

I can see Dune outgross Tenet in the opening weekend alone if it doesn't melt like NTTD in the end. I suppose Dune is the rare film now that can hold IMAX/PLF screen for two weeks.
