How many theaters do you think we are looking at for Infinity War? 4,400 to become highest for Marvel or 4,535+ to become widest ever?

If I had to guess it would be closer to 4,500 than 4,350

Sgt. Stubby is finishing with 4/78 at my theater. Comps:

25% of My Little Pony (2.2M)

35% of Paddington 2 (3.9M)

50% of Ferdinand (3.1M with the coresponding PTA)

With these comps and the fact movies placed in the smaller auditoriums at my theater typically open under 4M (the average is probably close to 3M after Unsane, Hurricane, and Gringo), this is not good!

Disney is going to push for as many as possible. 4,400 is what I'm expecting currently

A $50K PTA would give a The Last Jedi opening

A $55K PTA would get $242M

A The Force Awakens PTA would get $263.9M

Very optimistically, $65K PTA would bring in $286M

I hope so but as far as I can tell Disney doesn't seem concerned with getting more than 4200 theaters.  Probably ends up right around 4300 like their other big openers

Doesn't it not really matter too much after a certain point re: theatre counts?

I remember reading somewhere that a vast majority of the money comes from the top 25% of theatres or something. I can't remember where I saw that though. It might have been in a @Barnack post

7:00 previews at my theater:

Rampage: 69/78 (nice)

Truth or Dare: 29/78

Isle of Dogs: 6/78

That's strong for Rampage; I'll have comps once the 3D show begins. Sales are mixed around Orlando; some shows are selling decent while others are struggling (one IMAX didn't even sell 10 tickets).

Isle of Dogs is bombing hard here; half of those sales are single seats :jeb!: It's looking very strong around Orlando though, further proving how lame my area is.

Truth or Dare comps:

35% of A Quiet Place (17.6M)

75% of Jigsaw (12.3M)

85% of Insidious 4 (25.2M)

90% of Happy Death Day (23.4M)

105% of Annihilation (11.7M)

205% of Strangers (21.3M)

485% of Unsane (18.4M)

Comps are all over the place on this one; some support tracking, yet others have it overperforming. Continuing the trend of my rural area not following a metro area, Orlando is looking pretty light. Friday comparisons should hopefully be a bit more streamlined.

This only makes ToD being excluded from my theater even more bizarre. Again, I've always gotten movies that exceed 3,000 theaters. Is A Wrinkle in Time really doing that well here?

8:15 Rampage 3D: 16/78

Final Total: 85/156

Comps:

17% of Black Panther (34.3M)

25% of Justice League (23.5M)

25% of Thor: Ragnarok (30.7M)

75% of Pacific Rim (21.1M)

100% of Jumanji (36.2M) (Prime previews)

105% of Blade Runner (34.4M)

105% of Kingsman (41M)

175% of Tomb Raider (41.3M)

I'm expecting this to land O/U 30M based on what I'm seeing here and around Orlando.

While Deep Wang teases us, here’s something to munch on in the meantime.

Presales started in SK a few hours (3-5 maybe) ago and IW has already done what CW and AoU did in 5 days!!!

IW could possibly sell as many tickets in 1 day as AoU did in 7 and CW did in 10 days

Thanks yo @feasby007 for the link to the numbers
