I just feel like The Nun is in the right spot at the right time. Maybe I am forgetting a film (probably am) but the last real horror film to be released was A Quiet Place back in April. I guess if you count the purge as a horror film then it's that. But the point is that the horror audience has been starved for a film in their genre for several months. And given the good reception for the trailer plus the imo effective marketing, I can really see it breaking out where it's at. It just feels like it's a movie that's going to have everything work for it and break out.

Hereditary, Truth or Dare and Slenderman all count I think. All came out after AQP.

However iirc these weren’t received greatly and all made less than what The Nun will open to

Final A.X.L. sales at my theater:

4:00: 7/78

6:45: 7/78

Total: 14/156

Comps (all using PTA):

10% of Hotel Transylvania 3 (1.8M)

15% of Christopher Robin (1.8M)

30% of Teen Titans Go! (1.7M)

These sales are indicating O/U 1k for the PTA. Terrible

The Happytime Murders: 32/124

Beautifully Broken: 2/78

Beautifully Broken has some of the worst previews at my theater this year, but that's not surprising at all. BOM still hasn't released a TC for this

Happytime comps:

85% of Tag (12.7M)

90% of Uncle Drew (13.7M)

95% of Game Night (16.2M)

100% of The Spy Who Dumped Me (12.1M)

105% of Mile 22 (14.4M)

110% of Blockers (22.7M)

180% of Life of the Party (32.2M)

The summer movies are probably better comps even though school is in session.

But what if it follows Life of the Party 🤔

Joke is on us then, right?

It is in a good spot, but if it does not build from the current demand and get good reviews, it could go Kingsman 2 and open around 90% of 40 million for 36 OW.  Good, but could damage the franchise if The Nun is a dud.

tough weekend to predict spots #11-#30.  anyone know which ones will get re-released in theaters this weekend?

Ant-Man 2, HT3, Incredibles 2 will probably occupy the increased showings (or vacant slots) and have the other expansions dominated.

AFAIK there haven't been any announced expansions and BOM won't probably won't have the screen counts up until Thur .

Sorry to Bother You and Jurassic World might be making a final push this weekend.

Incredibles 2 should be adding what it can.

I've been guessing Hereditary would expand too, but any expansions will only damage WOM, lol.

Also guessing - Teen Titans, Skyscraper, Eighth Grade,
