Walked out of Detroit about 10 minutes before the end. Wow. Starts out well, tail spins into racist torture porn (I knew this going in but it felt exploitative), then just drags and drags. Honestly, it was a total mess. The acting is fantastic across the board, but the script is criminally bad. I don't see any nominations for this. This is gonna land with a massive thud. It already did last weekend, but this will not play well with mass audiences. They could have easily cut 40 minutes from the film. Even with the outrageous running time there are grand canyon size plot holes.

SMH is going to end with a good 2.8 and perhaps 2.9 multi. And yes that's a good multi. There are no need for fantasies that every well reviewed comic book movie is going to have a 3.0-3.5 multi. Ridiculous expectations make perfectly good runs look bad.

The film is 2 hours and 15 minutes long until the credits hit.  That is outrageous?

So far this year, we have had Universal win 2 months, WB win 2 months, Disney win 2 months, and currently Sony has 2 months (I think WB will take August with Annabelle)

It took me a second to realize Sony having two months was counting August.

Girls Trip still has a shot for 100M, right? I was hoping for smaller drops

This month is so empty. I wish Kingsman is on this month instead

Girls Trip will be at about $86M or so tomorrow. It'll hit $100M real soon.

GOTG2 earned 45.3% of the boxoffice of May, SMH earned 39.1% of July.

Wonder Woman was just 28.6% of June, so WW actually had more competition that affected it.

I'm not sure where my previous post went, but you guys are looking at the chart that only counts new releases for the month. You need to click on the calendar gross tab. Wonder Woman took 31.7% of June. Guardians took 41.2% of May. Spider-man took 23.2% of July.

I wonder how Kidnap WOM is doing

My mom and her friends seen it tonight. She said it was intense but not that good a movie. In her words felt like it was made for the sole purpose of making a movie and the chase scenes got pretty repetive.
