Gnome Alone | March 2 2018 | From the director of The Nut Job

I'm guessing this movie either gets delayed again, before eventually going direct-to-video, or only gets released in a few dozen theateres this weekend, where it will be dropped like a hot rock after 1 week.

Yeah, if this actually sees the light of a nationwide release on Friday, I will eat my hat. BOM doesn't even know about it, Numbers does but no theater counts.

(Gnome Alone is apparently opening this week as well, but the official site doesn’t have a release date and there have been no Tweets about the movie, since last October, so I think there’s a problem.)

"The animated trifle Gnome Alone (PG) must be hoping moviegoers confuse it with Sherlock Gnomes starring the voices of Johnny Depp and Emily Blunt later this month. It’s sneaking onto nearly 1,500 screens, an appropriately small number."

Where are these 1500 screens?  It is literally not within 50 miles of my metro (and maybe further, but Fandango only goes so far:)...

(Maybe Tampa hasn't gotten the message, b/c BOM doesn't have it releasing on any screens on their screen counts this weekend)

EDIT TO ADD - It did manage to release in Russia on its scheduled date and has made almost $2M internationally so far, so it does exist...

If this really is playing on 1500 screens, this may have a record-breaking bad opening. I haven't seen a single thing for this movie since a trailer before "The Nut Job 2" back in August (and back then, it was supposed to come out in October).

It can't possibly be hitting 1500 screens this weekend. If so, could this dethrone Proud American for worst wide opening ever? That was playing in only half as many theaters, however there has not been a single shred of marketing for this, who on earth knows it exists? Literally the only people who will show up to this are the parents who can't be bothered to put 1+1 together and think this is Sherlock Gnomes.

Ummm... This isn't on a SINGLE SCREEN within 50 miles of Sacramento!  And we're not exactly a small market here.

Yowzers.

Errr... Fandango can't find any listings for this in fucking Los Angeles.

Are we SURE this is being screened anywhere?

Yeah, there is no way this is on 1500 screens.  Nothing I could find in LA, SF, NY, or DC.  (edit: Or in Dallas, Houston, or Chicago)

Apparently it was kicked back in the schedule the day before release last time, so I wouldn't be surprised if some sort of shenanigans happened here as well.

But, well, if someone can find it playing anywhere in the US, they might be the only ones.

I still can't find any evidence that this is actually playing anywhere.  It's certainly not around here and searching a few zip codes on fandango turns up nothing.

This is opening here everywhere date-to-date with the American release. Smart. No will one will be compelled to pirate it.

Meanwhile, I still didn’t have the chance to see Phantom Thread.

I don't think it's opening in America on the American release date.  I still have no evidence this exists.  Does it actually have showtimes there?
