Great for them but Shang-Chi, which have been very mixed even negative. Many believe it would insult China due to Mandarin since it was announced on SDCC 2019.

One of the reason Marvel Studios did this show is that the new year performance was backed by China Central Television, a Chinese state-controlled broadcaster. So it could deliver a message to outside - your country have no problem with Shang-Chi, so stop spreading those misinformation that we're going to insult China.

Hmm, you would think it would be obvious to people that Marvel/Disney will handle it very delicately to make sure it’s not insulting to China. That would honestly be the least of my concerns 🤔

Shang-Chi’s father in the comics is an extremely racist character so I get some concern, but I don’t expect that will be an issue for the movie itself, especially if they were about to get Tony Leung to agree to it. Hopefully the first trailer will go some of the way toward dispelling that as well.

I’m seeing news reports predicting herd immunity in the States by late April (immunity + vaccinations). If true then this fall could see a market much more amenable to big theatrical releases by tentpole feature films. One ouldn’t be surprised if Eternals gets a theatrical release from  November through Christmas/New Years, before Disney+. I also support a premium rate for high profile new films like BW, Eternals, Spiderman. These productions need to recoup their costs.

Ok well let me see a fucking trailer, Marvel!

At this point kind of hoping Marvel releases the trailer on like Nov 1 as a flex.

I know there’s 0% chance of that, but on a more serious note I do think they could save marketing costs at very little loss of revenue with shorter marketing campaigns.

Yes, shorter campaigns seem a given considering they also have 10 properties coming out this year (and for the foreseeable future). I expect trailers to release at max 6 months before the content debuts but probably more like 3-4 months. No more 8-10 month teasers.

How reliable is this person? I feel like there are "leaks" like this about a lot of MCU movies. That said, I do have very high expectations for Eternals.

He is member of Critics Choice, Emmy winner, and editor of Awards Ace.

He is very reliable, this isn´t the first time he casually drop some info that it´s proven right later.

I felt so lucky that i saw a trailer for Eternals back in 2019 on comic con, at least visually it really looks like a masterpiece and the most beautiful MCU movie ever made.

I really hope this come out on the date, considering everything we heard this could be a serious contender for awards next year.

He's a pundit, not really a critic. I'm pretty sure this is gonna be better than most marvel stuff in the past couple of years, but early reactions are already hyperbolic as hell and pundits like this guy are usually more hyperbolic than critics.

Thinking about if Disney might start (after the situation is back to somewhat normal worldwide) to use their eg Disney+ platform to use for eg trailers too, in especial trailer for franchises within their franchise tabs. Or things like making of-trailer mixes, some specials. Short but filled with real info, not someone talking and talking with only short really new details.

Like something called cinema-news / cinema-talk or whatever. Maybe make a monthly news thing out of it, but not a big one over all departments, or split those up i to the franchises again, not all will want to watch eg Disney Park news if not into Parks.

Worldwide it could in theory help eg their animated movies, ‚Disney Princess‘-titles, but also Star Wars, MCU...

You‘ll might reach people being already into it on point that might have either missed it or not realize some interesting aspect of an upcoming movie that might give the final push to watch it in a cinema. Might.

Like add buttons for trailers at the home side/page or even within the franchises of other franchises soon to be released, but a lot more within the franchises.

At least I guess that is what I‘d look into, if legally possible and the specialists think its money-wise making sense

Just a thought, out of the little tidbits we get here, how much at least some of us are waiting for them
