MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE FALLOUT WEEKEND THREAD | 23 Friday...MM2 4.8...TT 4.25 EQ2 4.0

Recommended Posts

It is so intriguing how Mission Impossible is one of the widest releases ever, but the movie is not going to open anywhere near Black Panther, The Fast and the Furious, Star Wars, James Bond, Wonder Woman, The Jungle Book etcetera, which all opened in less theaters.

The Spy genre itself has a boxoffice ceiling, typically around $200m DOM total.
Superheroes movies can be much much bigger right now.

I think you're using the F word incorrectly.  More like fucking masterpiece and one of the best action movies I've ever seen.

Just saw it and you are right. It is a fucking masterpiece.

M:I 6 was better than all those movies put together

To be fair the latest Bond and TJB were pretty good. But this was better!

From Gitesh on Twitter:

#MissionImpossibleFallout is getting the 4th widest opening ever in month of July. Widest July openings of all-time:

4529 Despicable Me 3 (FRI JUN30 release)

4468 Twilight Eclipse (WED JUN30 release)

4404 Dark Knight Rises

4386 #MI6

4375 Harry Potter 8

4370 Secret Life of Pets

Up there with huge openers.

The IM for this weekend will be more than solid for Fallout once WOM spreads

No way it misses 60M at this point. And there's nothing wrong if it opens in that range. Anything over 65M is great

MI6 is easily a top 3 all time spy movie for me.

I would watch the movie ten times.

But I just put sci fi and superhero stuff higher cause that stuff touches on broad issues and concepts that resonate.

So spy stuff is fun. I actually think its really fun to role play as a spy but ultimately if I go to heaven I want it to be like MCU or neo tokyo futurism.

Reception is even better than the last one, with critics and fans. Henry Cavill has a lot of fans and is doing amazing promo for the movie. Rogue Nation did a good job in keeping us excited for more (unlike the predecessor to War of the Planet of the Apes, which you guys have been comparing MI6 to). If this opens below MI5 adjusted that would be disappointing to me and I will officially hate America even though it gave me Zack Snyder, Michael Jackson, Prince, JLo and Wendy Williams.
