But yeah, was mostly thinking screenplay at the moment.

Ana de Armas looks 100% white so if I didn't read this comment I wouldn't know that the point of the movie is non-white Ana (????) vs white family. I read that she's a Spanish descended Cuban. Spanish are white. There's no other ethnic breakdown for her except her Spanish ancestry so someone please explain the tweet above for I'm confused. Definitely politics in the movie, but I don’t think this is talking about that. It’s not actually about the race of them. Ana de Armas is the caretaker of Harlan. She’s not a part of the family. They’re just saying that she’s the main character, not the family.

Ah OK, in that case he should have just said "family".

Wouldn't surprise me now given the hype reviews everywhere. - Smart screenplay with excellent performances and mise en scene. - Not distributed by Disney OR Netflix - Beautiful cast that will look great on the red carpet to the Ad buyers for the ceremony: Evans just showed up last year and it went viral. - Politically savvy but not in your face - poised to make a decent box office run of like 75 to 100M lock it in; boys. we got our best picture

Just checked over at Awards Daily and GoldDerby, and no love over there, even for Original Screenplay. Someone did mention Knives Out as a slot for Original in the comment section on the 'state of the race' for screenplay today, and it's at slot #6 for Original Screenplay on GoldDerby's current odds. But that's about it. So I suppose not at this time. Still, these really are hype reviews. But maybe it's just not the right type of film for Oscar consideration even on the screenplay level (hack spittle at that whole notion, as always). filmlover
I could only see this making it into Picture if it becomes a real WOM sensation and goes over $100M. Otherwise I think SAG and maybe Screenplay is where it stops.

Jamiem
Can’t wait hopefully this is right up with Parasite and The Farewell for my favourite awards movies of the year. Only bad thing is I have to wait til November to see it here and it come out the same day as Frozen II, which is suspect will be one hell of a double feature 😂

ZackM
Saw a Knives Out trailer during the NFL game. It was different than either of the two official trailers. A lot of shots reused, but a couple new ones. 1

You'd think they'd have burned out after two years - many probably have - but there are the die hards who still post on every article, tweet or mention of RJ. So yeah, they're coming. 2
