I think what worked for Halloween is that it was able to re-energize excitement for a franchise that had been sullied over the decades by crappy sequels/remakes by promising to be the real sequel to the original that we've all been waiting for. Getting Curtis (who graduated well beyond the franchise and never faded mostly into obscurity like the Scream cast did between the third and fourth films) back was also a major plus.

Another Elm Street movie should have been put in development after It, but now after Halloween 2018 they really have no excuse.

if they do another Elm Street I hope they don't do the "ignore every sequel" thing. Dream Warriors and New Nightmare are arguably better than the original. I'm still not too happy they ignored Halloween II

Well I'm thrilled to see Halloween open this big and I really hope it sets the October record. This is a great time to be a horror movie fan and a great time to be a Halloween fan 2.

the Friday # was a good catch in the box office bottle.

Careful inspection of Saturday crowd reports and comparisons necessary to find an increase today.

Venom did a little over 26, IT made like 45.

25.6 + 26.2 + 17.0 + 7.7 = 76.5

Logan had a good near40% increase Saturday, so maybe 30 Saturday is possible with Halloween, but it is still going to have to catch a lot of fans who still have yet to see it + general interest
