Yeah, Ralph is going to get split screened at midsize theaters. Hypothetical 12plex:

Aquaman x2

Mary Poppins x2

Bumblebee

Spider-Verse

Marwen

Second Act

The Mule

Mortal Engines

The Grinch

Ralph/Creed

Once Holmes and Watson opens, the Ralph/Creed screen will go. If Vice is going wide enough to hid 10-12 screen theaters, The Grinch probably goes split screen with Mortal Engines.

See, Dec 25, Grinch goes, not Ralph, b/c like The Star, no one watches Christmas movies after Christmas...so Ralph's split would just move and Grinch would probably go...but we'll see:)...

Cant say I am not disappointed and also somewhat perplexed at the way Ralph has behaved. Never expected it to keep pace with Moana, but its coming dangerously close to losing out on Coco as well. Similarly, the original didnt have "great" legs either for a film that was decently received in a rather meh winter movie scene so I guess we shouldnt be surprised.

Though Ralph 2 has an 87% RT critic score, its 68% audience score is much lower than other WDAS films. It also has an A- Cinemascore compared to the A and A+ scores of past WDAS films. Maybe WOM is really just that mixed and resulting in weaker legs than usual. While the Grinch has even lower scores, I'm sure being a Christmas-themed animation gives it a lot of appeal among the GA this time of year.

I was looking back at other Thanksgiving movies, and using Penguins of Madagascar's legs (the last animated non-sequel to open on Thanksgiving) would give Ralph about $199M, which would be slightly lower than what it's expected to land at. Maybe animated non-sequels that open on Thanksgiving are just gonna be more frontloaded than usual.
