Looks like there will be no contest whatsoever between the family friendly MPR and the superhero AM. Superheroes come out on top once again!

This is a thing.  A BIG thing. Wonder when the superhero fad will wind down.

Don't say no contest...Venom beat A Star is Born by under $10M (roughly - still TBD on Venom's and ASIB's final numbers), yet ASIB was way behind after weekend 1...

It could play the same way for Aquaman and MPR2...we'll just have to see where we are on Jan 5-6 before we get a clearer picture of how far apart or how tight the race may go...

also, SH movies are popular for way over a decade so that makes them a trend not a fad (short lived sensation). The poster for fad is Lisbeth Salander (Dragon Tatoo).

Not only that but so far we only have Deadline first estimates... Numbers that could crumble MPR-style for all we know.

ASIB was acclaimed by critics and the audience reception was much better too.

So, they did add early previews to get the double digits - called it!

Although $4.7M was higher than the $3M I thought they'd have - the Wednesday sneaks must have also done great!

My family was blown away and audience loved it. lots of gasps, laughs at the right places, applause at the end. we'll see how WOM is.
