The 2019 BOFFY Awards - VOTING DEADLINE TODAY

I've got a question: How will we be voting with the Winner's Ballot? The Best Picture ballot will be preferential ranking, but will the other categories be preferential? I think last time, we voted by picking one winner and one runner-up.

Your number 1 vote is your pick.  The preferential ballot is there to break ties (and it does break ties, that's how IW got its Ensemble and BP nods).

BP is the category that's different.  Still preferential, but it functions similar to the Oscars where a movie has to get 50.1% support to win.

Why is everybody so gaga for cooper direction in ASIB? Ever since i saw ASIB, I been very critical about the film direction and wish him to be left out for best director category every second.

I am glad Oscar snub him out, Pawel obviously did a better directing here. Did nobody see Cold War?

Kinda sad that in a year with so many strong docos, we've done away with the documentary category.

I only managed to squeeze Free Solo into cinematography. Kinda feel bad about giving nothing to They Shall Not Grow Old. Still, don't mean to be all critical. Really good work putting this together, @The Panda and @Spagspiria.

good noms all around. hope Leave No Trace/ASIB and Toni Collette win everything

...and why is the best animated feature noms here about the same as the Oscar noms with the only anime movie getting nominated as Mirai because it was also nominated for other awards. I know this is mainly an American/Hollywood forum but do People here not watch anime?  there were few anime movies that were better than Mirai that came out last year. Liz and the Blue Bird or I Want to Eat Your Pancreas for example

though none of them was as good as Your Name which was snubbed 2 years ago

That's honestly one of the reasons why I made my documentary thread, to increase the relevance of documentaries on the site. It's a sinch by the inch.

i saw a bunch of documentaries from last year and it was a very good year for the form. unfortunately if we had a doc category that mr. rogers movie would have won so it's probably for the best it's not there.

I wasn't able to see it until yesterday, the day after the deadline. I definitely would've voted for him had I seen it in time.
