If people want more "original" content then they hould have gone to see John Carter, Tomorrow Land, The Finest Hours & Queen of Katwee

Again as @terrestrial pointed out - go back a  couple of years instead of forward and see why the slate was adjusted.  Also see they cut ties with Spielberg b/c they moved to an in house financed model.

And I will anwser the same, do you think that I am a moron not knowing all of this ?

800+ movies are released a year in the U.S. -  about 85% of those not by any major studio or even art house division of a major studio

And 7,000 movies made not released, almost all movies made have a less than 1 million budget, not sure what is the point being made ?

Isn't that why they've had other brands such as Touchstone Pictures? Remains to be seen if they'll leverage the Fox brand as the brand for those other kinds of films, but certainly there's ways to release films outside the family spectrum without tarnishing your brand.

@Barnack can't shorten the quote, had to delete it, looked worse and worse

Again, I think that has a lot to do with the size and the amount in the years I gave the examples in the log post earlier =

If you make as a studio within a handful or two of years so much minus, me too would start to think, o.K. lets do with the more secure material for a while and lets try out new a bit more cautious than before.

And then the next tries bomed again.

= its not only about to create material connectable to the parks, its also burned fingers hands

using your method

red was new, animated or live and successful

green something was a change of POV thing or somehow unusual.... and successful bcs of a low / its budget

violett, no mater if new or not, animated or not, bombed, but in opposition to a lot of the other bombs in the market, had partly insane high budgets (like $200m and even $250m)

green-violett mix.... at the limit, bad, but not  huge bomb.... (my fonts... are a bit misbehaving)

some I am not sure aout how to classify

in 2011 ##1 and #2 made minus according to some outlets beside one bing an $1b movie (not sure about that, one of the series is / was the most expensive of all time at that year, so mybe)

I think they try not enough mid to low budgets, but as some of those fell through too ....

Some of their new material is on e.g. the worst bombs sci-fi animated, the worst bombs ever,,.... lists

(hhmmmm how would the others react, if they actually would try their hands on some of the new material again.... and be successful with it?

In the end a lot of the reasons given are in my POV also based on too many movies released per year, by too many small distributors, they kill each other

Admissions not growing, but roughly 4 times as many movies than ~ 30 years back

Do people not understand that the majority of the population wants to see the same thing over and over....why do you think Netflix paid 100M for another year of Friends.  Of course one can internally grumble all they want, but Disney, etc well understand human nature and what will make them the most money with the least risk.  Will never change.

Aquaman lands at #5 on Deadlines most profitable 2018 movies list with 260m estimated profit.

WW Home Entertainment costs at $111m seem low.

Yes DVD/BR are down but Streaming has overtaken them as a revenue source, some films making twice as much on streaming and attendant costs are far lower.

Or they putting part of  streaming in with WW TV revenue?

And they are getting outdone.  Without Disney by now the "theaters are dead" chants would be a lot louder.  People may get their wish too....if Disney decides to pull even half their releases to Disney+ then AMC is probably toast and no number of recliner renovated theaters will save them
