Ok I find the lack of Blade(and/or its first sequel) and Dredd in all these lists so far is highly disturbing

Blade is not only a great movie, it kicked off the modern superhero mania(not X-Men) and was smash hit CBM a with black lead and co-lead a full 20 years before the "revolutionary Black Panther".  And is there a CBM movie with a better opening 10 minutes than Blade? Nope.

And Dredd is the full package.  Great lead, great co-lead(the rookie), sadistic villain played brilliantly by the great Lena Headey, ultra violence, sarcastic humor, great visuals, good soundtrack, and a surprising bit of social commentary.

God you guys are disappointing.

PS Oblivion is a comic book movie?  Thats a very good and underrated movie and gets my stamp of approval.

I didn't put Blade on my list because I don't think Blade is a great movie. I love it, and I own it... but it's not even the best movie in its film series... Blade II is a better film in basically every way. It's certainly not better than Dredd which IS on my list.

But I also think it's weird to roll in and crap on people's lists because they don't look the way you want them to. That's why you make your own! So you can have it look just right for you...

I love Blade, but for me its not a CBM in the meaning how I'd define a CBM.

Not everything based on a CB ends as a CBM. Same counts for other movies / franchises too, sadly.

Just my 2ct

OK, how do you explain this? How is a movie based on a comic book not a comic book movie?

It's possible the distinction being drawn is that Blade is a character from a comic book, but nothing in the Blade movies is really from those comics... and Blade didn't even get his own series until just before the movie came out... so except for the fact Blade is a "daywalker" who got powers when Deacon Frost bit his mom, almost nothing else was adapted. He doesn't look like Blade, he doesn't act like Blade, none of the story surrounding Blade really fits... David Goyer basically just took the character and used him for his own purposes...

I wouldn't agree with that argument, and I think Blade is a comic book movie... but I think that's maybe the argument.
