I really don't see how people are seeing sub-Shazam numbers tbh.

That actually doesn't seem too off the mark for Birds of Prey for me, at least at the moment. We'll see how the marketing/buzz looks in the weeks leading up to the release.

Multiplier too low for Birds of Prey - it will get a huge Valentine's weekend bump in its 2nd weekend.  It's an ideal movie for that holiday...

I think BoP will be going for $200M+ DOM...DC has a lot of goodwill and momentum built up from its past outings...that tends to pay off - ask Marvel:)...

Why is it an 'ideal' Vday movie?

B/c both parties can ask their special someone to the movie and know it's a good move which has something for each of them:).  And it's a fun comedy, which is always the better play on Valentine's Day, vs a tear-jerker which ruins moods:)...should I go on?:)

I think DC movies are a lot less reliant on franchise history than Marvel. For example Aquaman was not really hurt by JL while Shazam probably didn't get much benefit from Aquaman.

I could see that. Offshoot sequel to a movie nobody really cared about. With a character nobody is wanting to see again.

This movie wishes itself to be another deadpool. Wondering what the buzz was like for deadpool two months before opening?

I dunno, I felt like Birds of Prey was an easy slam dunk on paper, and I'm sure the movie's fun, but it doesn't feel like anyone is talking about it. And yeah, it's still two months from release, and Star Wars and the new trailers are soaking up the conversation, but Suicide Squad two months before release felt like everybody was talking about it.

Captain Marvel's PostTrak numbers after previews were 4.5 stars, was 60% males on Thursday, had sexist online backlash that ended up on the news, and arguably had more trolls seeing the movie on account of its story importance (or at least, its supposed story importance) for the biggest movie of all time than trolls seeing a random horror remake.

There's a lot of terrible sexism in geek and horror culture, but people hating a lame horror remake...that ain't it.

Are you really trying to compare a MCU movie (that has a gigantic fandom behind it, that always show up on previews/OD to inflate numbers) to a small horror movie? LMFAO.

Okay I'll bite. What other movie that had a ton of sexist backlash and still saw attendance, at least on previews, by a majority men, do you want me to compare Black Christmas to?

I received a $7 off from Atom to watch Jumanji.

I would be really surprised if this doesn't do well in the OW (at the expense of the P&A cost).

The Atom promotion is not coming from T-Mobile., so it must be sponsored by the movie.

That's the Chase Pay promotion, good on any movie ticket right now (unless you got an additional very targeted promotion)...

I gotta disagree, can’t imagine many couples where both of them would want to see Birds of Prey as the VDay date movie. Wouldn’t say it has something for each of them, it’s definitely more a geek centric movie. And tear jerkers definitely don’t ruin moods on dates

Agree to disagree - I know a bunch of married couples who think this is gonna be a great Valentine's outing...so maybe we're the fuddy-duddies.  We are also the ones who thought Deadpool was a great V-Day outing - and it was...

Deadpool's OW...

Feb 13, 2016    Saturday    1    $42,508,025    -10.2%    -    3,558    $11,947    $89,843,617    2
Feb 14, 2016    Sunday    1    $42,591,022    +0.2%    -    3,558    $11,970    $132,434,639    3

That's a Valentine's Day hold for a geeky funny as hell super:)...ala Birds of Prey...

That BoP prediction is hilarious. It is opening with what they're predicting to be it's total just like Deadpool 1 did.

Where is the hype for the $125 million opening gonna be coming from? Even Joker only managed $96 million.
