Counterpoint: Titanic.

Where is the hype for the $125 million opening gonna be coming from? Even Joker only managed $96 million.

My favorite movie of all time...but I can say it ruined all moods for the rest of the night:).  Not one my spouse would have picked for Valentine's Day (I was an absolute basket case after my 1st watch...now, I can just cry and tear up after my 75th viewing:).

And yeah, $125M OW is high for Birds of Prey...I'd think the goal open should be between Shazam and Joker...hopefully closer to Joker...

Considering the sexual tension between Sonic and Robotnik in the games, I think it's clear what couples are going to see next Valentine's

Especially considering Sonic’s crippling addiction to pornography and most sexiest being alive, Big The Cat. Instant winner.

Regardless, Titanic's highest-grossing day was Valentine's Day. While you may not like the idea of watching a tear-jerker on Valentine's, it's clear there's an audience for those on that day (not even counting the Nicholas Sparks joints that typically pop up in February)

Multiplier too low for Birds of Prey - it will get a huge Valentine's weekend bump in its 2nd weekend.  It's an ideal movie for that holiday...

I think BoP will be going for $200M+ DOM...DC has a lot of goodwill and momentum built up from its past outings...that tends to pay off - ask Marvel:)...

I think DC movies are a lot less reliant on franchise history than Marvel. For example Aquaman was not really hurt by JL while Shazam probably didn't get much benefit from Aquaman.

Exactly what Menor said. The key to strong cinematic universe benefits is that people view all of your movies as connected. For a variety of reasons, most crucially the presence or lack thereof of successful team ups, people (accurately) view DC films as mostly independent right now. It could beat BOP’s initial estimates of course, but it will need to do so on its own merits and marketing, unlike e.g. Squirrel Girl which probably hits 200M just because of the studio name.

Friday $5,097,211

Not that I think F2 will have as big of a holiday, but F2 is ahead every day except Monday the 9th despite opening earlier.  This weekend will probably be lower, but it's still doing impressively well.

4.7

13.05 [17.75]

18.0 (+38%)

12.5 (-30.5%)

= 48.25

High-40s ow is an upswing from where things looked a couple of weeks back imo.

Didn't think preview to ow multi would be under 11x by any means but 4pm start and lucrative deals seem to have made their play.

I know it's very limited this weekend in 4 theatres, but Bombshell is doing gangbuster business at Lincoln Square in NYC.
It's selling out two of their largest screens, and already added a medium size screen 9:15pm show.
It's likely going to pull a very large PTA this weekend, which combined with it's Globes/SAG nominations will set it up nicely for the Christmas period.

Any box office predictions for it when it release wide next weekend?
