The film basically will need $110-120mn worldwide gross to earn profit.

Do you know details about Blumhouse-Universal deal? Because if universal paid 100% marketing and film distribution costs this movie will definitely didn't need 110-120 to make profit for blumhouse.

box office success is concerned with box office performance. A film releasing worldwide cost roughly $80-100mn at this scale. It must recover that.

oh, wow, that's 500K above the budget. :bravo: Will start making profit by Sunday.

Didn't they also spend 5 million with the TV SPOT that got released during Super Bowl?

I think the budget is probably higher than what is being reported. Blumhouse goes for cheap movies, but I'm sure marketing wasn't that cheap for this movie.

Well deserved!

QnS (44) + Harriet (43) + Parasite (60) = 147 dom (~50 combined prod budget .. 20+17+11 = 48)

Dark Fate (62) + Dark Pho (66) + CA (18) = 146 dom (~500 combined prod budget)

😈

Reported Blumhouse budgets are primarily below the line costs.

Quote

Blumhouse Productions has given the world Oscar winning films like Whiplash and acclaimed television dramas like A Normal Heart, but the company’s claim to fame is, of course, the seemingly endless string of hit horror films produced on insanely low budgets, usually a strictly adhered-to range between $3 and $5 million. But as company CEO and founder Jason Blum explained today during the 360 Profile: Blumhouse Productions panel at the end of the Produced By conference’s first day, those low budgets aren’t just cheap for the sake of cheap.

“The three-to-five million dollar figure is not a random picked number,” Blum said near the end of the panel. “That amount is about what we are able to recoup on the movies if we don’t get a wide release. In a worst case scenario, we break even and maybe lose a little money but not very much, and everyone gets paid scale… That budget is reverse-engineered to thinking that if the movie isn’t in wide release, at least we get our money back and can keep our doors open.”

So it's the budget if the movie bombs and they don't have to pay their actors  (or maybe directors/writers) anything on the back end.

But if this is a cost for universal not for blumhouse it doesnt have to earn 80-100 to make a profit for blumhouse.

A bit lower than I expected but I'm not too surprised. It feels like every weekend so far this year has had a new horror film come out, and most of them have gotten less than stellar ratings from critics and audiences. If the market wasn't so over-saturated I would say the number would probably be much higher than it is.

Still, the great reactions this film has gotten so far gives me hope that WOM can help carry it in the coming weekends.

Man, this thread would be so much better if two users on here, who clearly haven't even seen the movie, stop acting like this movie is the next Get Out or something. Like I get, the movie is pretty good but damn, you guys gotta stop spamming.

Decent for The Invisible Man, I think a low budget approach is the best way for Universal to use the Universal Monsters IP. I wonder if they get round to making The Creature from the Black Lagoon reboot as that could be done on a $20-30m budget

1. Nobody's here is spamming, we are talking about B.O which is what this forums is about.

2. Nobody's saying it is the next GO, we're just saying that the IM will be more comparable to GO than to something like Insidious 4.

Keep trying.

You are legit just repeating the same thing over and over again. Like, calm down. But yeah, I'm trying to bring the movie that I saw and loved down.

the film felt more like Us rather than Get Out in tone. though not as good but it's very close imo
