Generally, I don’t really see why people care about financing split. It has nothing to do with how successful a movie was.

A movie that party A funds for $100M and returns 90M to them is a movie that lost 10M. A movie that Party A funds for 50M and party B funds for 50M and return 45M to each is... still a movie that lost 10M.

A movie that party A funds for 50M and party B funds for 50M and returns 60M to A and 30M to B is a successful financial venture for A thanks to the way they structured the deal... but it’s still a movie that lost 10M dollars. If 10 parties each put up 10M, 8 of them get 11M back, other 2 get 1M back, 80% of people walk away with a profit and are happy — but the movie itself is still a 10M loser.

Yet people will talk about profit splits between this and that entity all day long as though it changes the movie’s situation. Bizarre.

This.

However for box office performance, it's favourable if party making profit is Distributor.

In Bollywood accounting, a producer may be making huge table profit by selling distribution & ancillaries rights. But if Distributor fails to make money, the film is given FLOP verdict.

e.g. a film Tubelight in 2017, cost ₹88cr to make & P&A but before actor remurenations who was producer himself. The market value of actor is around ₹80cr range.

The film recovered the cost from huge ancillaries rights at ₹130cr range. The Overseas distribution rights were sold at ₹50cr while India rights were sold at ₹138cr.

The Distributor Share of film was mere ₹55cr in India & ₹20cr Overseas with film losing ₹115cr Approx money to Distributor while Producer made ₹200cr plus. The film is termed as one of the biggest Flops in Bollywood.

Great walk-ins. 9-9.5mn True Friday looks likely.

Yeah! I knew it. @Valonqar

Get Out got a 6.0x off previews for it's OD, The Invisible Man is getting an even higher multiple at 6.8x.

It has a shot at $33m this weekend if it keeps following GO.

And people here said it wouldn't come close to GO's IM, it's probably going to have an even better IM, lmfao.

Just at a certain point, when a studio buy an Adam Sandler movie 80m, we rarely take into account how much Sandler and is production company made when talking about how successful a movie was, we only look at it from the buyer of the movie point of view without caring about the financing split.

And when people talk about financing split past that point (say pointing out who took the hit on Blader Runner failure or that Liongates pre-sold almost all markets) it usually does not imply how successful the movie was or not indeed.

It is not like there is any reason for people to care about any of this 99% of time either, it is not like any of us take any action based on how successful movie are or not, it is just purely a waste of time that made non-sense at all, talking about the financing split is just an other way too loose our time, not more or less relevant than anything else that is ever talked about regarding box office on Internet.

if it does 9m+ true friday MTC1 has under indexed big time. Its more like 8m from MTC1 perspective. MTC2 has over performed and so I guess theaters which did not have big previews came up big today.

Day 2 PS is up 18-20% at around same point but day time walk ups should be even better tomorrow.
