Robert De Niro, Oscar Isaac, Donald Sutherland, and Anne Hathaway are set to join previously announced Cate Blanchett in Armageddon Time, the period drama that James Gray will next direct for RT Features.

Gray crafted a drama based on his childhood memories, a big-hearted coming-of-age story that explores friendship and loyalty against the backdrop of an America poised to elect Ronald Reagan as president. It is very different from his recent pictures, and he hopes to shoot in New York as soon as post-pandemic opportunities make it possible....

@aabattery our boy is back to win Best Picture again with a killer cast!

So is De Niro's shitty comedy phase 100% over now? Considering he would have done two Scorsese's and a Gray film all in the span of a few years

I think he has made enough money to leave his kids well off and can go back ot be choosy about his roles.

ironicaly enough, Laurence Olivier did the  same think late in his career. he took a look at his bank account and decided that choices based on quality had not paid off that much so decided to hold his nose for the big paychecks to leave a nice nest egg for his family.

Who keeps giving James Gray money after the Ad Astra failure (artistically and financially)

having box office bombs doesn't always stop directors from getting more work, same goes for actors.

As Deadline revealed would happen July 7, Focus Features has finalized a worldwide deal on James Gray’s Armageddon Time, the coming-of-age film written and set to be directed by Gray, led by Robert De Niro, Oscar Isaac, Donald Sutherland, Anne Hathaway and Cate Blanchett. Deadline reported earlier this month that the project was headed toward Focus in a $15 million deal, after it was unveiled as one of the buzz titles in the Virtual Cannes Market.

Gray based the drama on his childhood experiences set in a pre-Reagan era America. Production is set to begin in 2021 in New York.  RT Features’ Rodrigo Teixeira will produce along with Gray and Anthony Katagas, with Lourenço Sant’Anna and Rodrigo Gutierrez executive producing.

“It’s really a dream come true for me–to do this kind of personal story, and to do it for such a wonderful partner in Focus Features,” Gray said. “I could not ask for a better home for this film.”

We can probably move this to the main section now since it's coming out at some point this year.

The star-studded, personal coming-of-age story about the strength of family and the generational pursuit of the American Dream is led by Anne Hathaway, Anthony Hopkins and Jeremy Strong, with Repeta Banks, Jaylin Webb and Ryan Sell.

Gray also wrote the period drama that’s based on his childhood experiences set in a pre-Reagan era America.
