Oh yeah… we cookin 🔥🔥🔥 just finished the andrew roberts Napoleon book and shit was heat. I don’t agree with the man’s politics but he can fucking write. Don’t think this’ll be as heavy on the infidelity angle since it’s pitching it as a romance though.

, Disney‘s Wish and Apple Original Films and Sony‘s Napoleon are set to open over the Wednesday to Sunday holiday stretch with respective grosses of $50M+ and $24M+. Both movies open on Thanksgiving eve, Nov. 22.

Ridley Scott’s Napoleon is of course tracking with older and younger guys, and its 5-day opening is in the range of the helmer’s previous Thanksgiving 2021 launch, House of Gucci, which did $22M over 5-days as well as Prime Video’s Ben Affleck directed title Air which minted $20.2M in a 5-day launch this past Easter.

Napoleon reps Apple’s second mega-wide theatrical release on a long window after Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, which Paramount distributed. That pic opened to a solid $23.2M in the middle of an actors strike where performers aren’t permitted to promote struck work. Napoleon, which begins media previews Wednesday, stars Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix in the title role and has a 2 hour, 38 minute running time — significantly shorter than Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon at 3½ hours. Deadline first told you about Apple financing the $130M epic back in January 2021.

Starts screening for critics on Wednesday it seems.

Also, 130m budget for this?  Wtf?

Looking forward to this. Ridley may have one the most uneven filmographies for a legendary filmmaker but when he is hits he hits. Watched the Original Alien last night. That movie still holds up. I prefer Aliens but the original is still great.

I mean he’s only really “hit” with The Martian in 22 years (for box office). Hard to call that uneven, that’s just unsuccessful.

Was mostly talking about quality because yes he has not had that many actual hits but in the last 22 years has also had Black Hawk Down, American Gangster and Prometheus all make money besides The Martian.

The fact this cost 70 million less than KOTFM is crazy. Yeah Marty is spending too much on his movies.

110-120 million less. KOTFM cost 225 mln initially and it had multiple rounds of reshoots while in post-production.

COVID protocols didn't help matters either.

Hahaha, I love Ridley.

The New Yorker profile that this quote came from is an excellent read if you get the chance.

Disappointed the interviewer didn't ask him about his feelings on his age/mortality to see Ridley get all grumpy and call him a 'fucking pussy' or something

oh, word
