SHANG CHI SECOND WEEKEND THREAD: 35.8M (-53%), DILF Leung Conquers #1 Spot | Free Guy 5.8, Malignant 5.6, Candyman 4.9, Jungle Cruise 2.4, Card Counter 1.1

For big movies (franchises specifically) yeah i'm sure is close to normal, maybe 85%?

For smaller movies obviously it isn't, but why? Sometimes i don't think is because of COVID, we're talking about how smaller movies clearly are losing space for quite some time now. The pandemic and home comsumption maybe accelerated this process, that's the reasonable explanation of why specific big movies are doing good despite Delta and everything else is meh.

Sunday AM Writethru: Refresh for chart updates and analysis With great success comes continued great chaos for the theatrical experience this past week. On the plus side, the domestic box office is continuing its rebound during the pandemic, with the second weekend of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings earning $9.7M in its second Friday, -67%  for an estimated 3-day of $35.7M

I need 35M or over for SC to finally win some prediction. I've been doing pretty well lately, coming close, no overestimation, but I need undisputed win that stays with actuals.

That's a pretty bad PTA for Card Counter. It's only $300 higher than Malignant which plays in 3,400+ theaters vs Card Counter's 580. PTA for limited releases should be much higher than for wide ones.

Malignant is a bomb of the month. It must be really that bad that even proven horror name (James Wan) couldn't put butts in seats.

It is not available on any streaming service OS so that ends up tricking a few people that are not aware it is available online in 4K. All my friends saw it but they downloaded it.

Deadline reaction to Halloween Kills on Peacock is killing me.

"Seriously, what the hell is going on? Does the town think we’re going to sit on our couches and watch our cell phones for eternity? The big screen is the curation of great product, don’t ya get that? How should we sift through a sea of titles on streaming menus if we don’t know what’s great yet?"

Their meltdowns are hilarious
