I see shows listed for the Batman. Its really early considering ticket sales are starting next thursday. I definitely see this having a HUGE release. Now let us see how OD sales goes.

It's pretty typical for theaters to get the showtimes listed early before they go on sale these days, No Way Home did the same thing. Looks like it's starting at 3:00, not unexpected since each screen will only be able to fit 3 shows a day due to the running time.

Not that these would have high presales anyway, but yeah... @EmpireCity any word on Oscar expansions next weekend? MGM should really and finally take Licorice Pizza wide

Will Netflix report their Kanye grosses?

Will Liam Neeson and JLo have some of the worst (wide) openings of their career?

It's been clear Universal wasn't expecting much from Marry Me ever since they decided to make it a day-and-date-on-Peacock title after previously announcing it would be one of the "Peacock 45 Days After Theaters" titles. Heck, the marketing has even been really pushing Maluma's presence and downplaying Owen Wilson (even though the latter is the real male lead of the movie and the former is just a supporting role) in an attempt to try and trick younger audiences into seeing a romcom with stars who are AARP eligible.

Film Previews Friday % Share
Batman Begins
The Dark Knight $18.50 $67.16 27.55%
The Dark Knight Rises $30.64 $75.75 40.45%

Man of Steel $21.00 $68.13 30.82%
Batman v Superman $27.70 $81.56 33.96%
Suicide Squad $20.50 $64.89 31.59%
Wonder Woman $11.00 $38.25 28.76%
Justice League $13.00 $38.47 33.79%
Aquaman $9.00 $27.73 32.46%
Shazam $5.90 $20.35 28.99%
Birds of Prey $4.00 $12.96 30.86%
Wonder Woman 1984   $7.48 0.00%
The Suicide Squad $4.10 $12.10 33.88%

Joker $13.30 $39.35 33.80%

DC has been previews frontloaded, but Batman has been a lot more previews heavy. I think The Batman can be as high as 42-43%. Thinking $25-30M previews for $63-75M OD as of now.

BvS on a normal Friday would have been 37% ish.

So basically you're thinking it follows the same pattern that NWH took. Gives it an OW somewhere between $140-165M.

Correct. No massacre and TDKR does a good $90 that day and about $195m for the weekend.

On the other hand, both TDK and TDKR were true "midnights" with far less overall showtimes than modern previews now get.

Yea that was just a terrible weekend all around after that. Obviously the events that occurred were way more important than the box office but it definitely knocked 15-20% off the OW and probably 10% off the DOM total.

EASILY the most disappointing weekend of the 20 years I have followed the box office and film industry closely. TDKR was the most hyped film since Matrix Reloaded. The buzz was beyond deafening for that baby.

Weird comparison considering there were more hyped films than Reloaded in between.

Excel lives in his own fantasy world we can barely comprehend. Just let him do his weird little thing and he'll tire himself out eventually.
