My quietness has to do with just being so busy though the holiday-I had wanted to track M3GAN but.....well life got in the way, and when check Cineplex for any more advance tickets for any films its pretty quiet at the moment. There are a couple of "coming soon" ones, but not advance tix. So its been....quiet lol

Interesting. Im away for the weekend, but I will be keeping an eye on it. If the WOM ends up echoing what the reviews are saying, this could be one of those small surprising "wow that had an impressive weekend" type of things. If the first is considered a success, a M3GAN IP going forward would be interesting (and you just know if this is successful there will be an eventual call for a M3GAN vs Chucky down the road)

A2 will win the weekend obviously but with reviews like this, you have to wonder if it will have some effect on A2's weekend total.

I dont think Megan will affect Avatar in any way negatively. A horror movie like this is classic counter-programming for a different audience.

Nah. These reviews will just make the M3GAN weekend gross, and the overall weekend total, higher. A2 is going to do what it's going to do.

M3gan, counted today for tomorrow:

NY (AMC Fresh Meadows 7):
100 (3 showtimes)
Miami (AMC Sunset Place 24):
31 (6 showtimes)
Grand Rapids (AMC Grand Rapids 18):
7 (3 showtimes)
Austin (AMC Lakeline 9): 3 (2 showtimes)
Tempe/Phoenix (AMC Centerpoint 11): 27 (2 showtimes)
San Francisco (AMC Metreon 16):
107 (4 showtimes)
LA (AMC Universal): 175 (6 showtimes)

Total tickets sold in 7 theaters: 450.

Up 32% since yesterday.
Comps (all counted on Wednesday for Thursday): The Invitation (775k from previews) had 176 sold tickets,

The Forever Purge (1.3M) had 168

The Invisible Man (1.65M) had 628
Prey for the Devil (660k) had 140 (I reported wrong numbers several times; Devil had only 115 and 149 on Monday, not 140 and 207)

Barbarian (850k) had 222
HK (4.95M) had 1.006,
Scream
(3.5M) had 1.302

and Smile (2M) had 306 sold tickets.

M3gan, counted today for Friday:

NY (AMC Fresh Meadows 7):
154 (8 showtimes)
Miami (AMC Sunset Place 24):
17 (11 showtimes)
Grand Rapids (AMC Grand Rapids 18):
13 (6 showtimes)
Austin (AMC Lakeline 9):
25 (7 showtimes)
Tempe/Phoenix (AMC Centerpoint 11):
34 (7 showtimes)
San Francisco (AMC Metreon 16):
77 (8 showtimes)
LA (AMC Universal): 186 (10 showtimes)

Total tickets sold in 7 theaters: 506 - I was wrong by 6 tickets ;).

Up fine 42.5% since yesterday.
Comps (all counted on Wednesday for Friday): The Invitation had 167 sold tickets,

Prey for the Devil had 207,

Malignant had 167,

Old had 262,

The Invisible Man had (as for Thursday) 628,

Barbarian had 140,

Scream had 1.169,

HK had 1.254
and Smile had 399 sold tickets.

Secretly I hoped for even better jumps but there's no reason to complain because especially the Friday jump is very good. I read that it should have nice walk-ups so an OW under 25M seemed unlikely to me even before I noticed the great reviews.
And now I'm really looking forward to see the jumps tomorrow.

My post from the main M3GAN thread...

Anecdotal tidbit:

My theatre has a handful of showtimes for this in UltraAVX, which is a really good sign with Avatar obviously still playing so strongly. Usually something like this would get the bare minimum on a bare bones screen.

This does feel a little extra special. Wouldn't be surprised to see it challenge $30M.

M3gan Previews

MTC1 - 12595/152393 182460.37 1095 shows

MTC2 - 6613/132031 81891.30 1026 shows

With good walkups I am thinking 2m+ previews will happen.

M3gan Previews(T-1)

MTC1 - 21440/198348 308695.44 1461 shows

MTC2 - 12262/173893 150590.26 1439 shows

I must admit growth today is below what I expected. but this movie should be driven by walkups than huge presales. I am still hoping this pulls in a black phone like final day performance.
