MTC1 Friday - 8808/80384 112580.80 717 shows

Weird release for sure. its not going to have good internal multi with this kind of release. @katnisscinnaplex will you be tracking show count for this week's release.

Edit: Ignore friday data. that was looking wrong info. That was Jesus friday instead of CB :-)

Tickets for A Thousand and One went on sale today, coincides with Focus’ trailer launch. Won the Grand Jury prize at Sundance, where I saw it. Very much deserved, highly recommend checking it out when it opens.

Additionally, Sony’s comedy The Machine has a live event scheduled for the Thursday night before release (May 25). Tickets for that are also now on sale.

I'm still a bit ill but it's better so first of all some numbers from last week:

Creed III had last Friday (after ca. 24h) 185 and 157 sold tickets for Thursday respectively Friday.
Comps (not the best comps genre-wise but all also counted after 24 hours): Black Phone had 95 and 34 sold tickets,

M3gan had 56 and 43 sold tickets

and Beast had 53 and 27 sold tickets.

Scream VI had last Friday (with 20 and 21 days to go) very good 619 sold tickets for Thursday and very ok 261 sold tickets for Friday.
Comp: Scream had with 14 and 15 days to go 502 and 205 sold tickets.

Cocaine Bear, counted today for today:

NY (AMC Fresh Meadows 7):  117 (5 showtimes)
Miami (AMC Sunset Place 24): 42 (3 showtimes)
Grand Rapids (AMC Grand Rapids 18): closed due to winter storms
Austin (AMC Lakeline 9): 9 (2 showtimes)
Tempe/Phoenix (AMC Centerpoint 11): 75 (3 showtimes)
San Francisco (AMC Metreon 16): 232 (7 showtimes)
LA (AMC Universal): 308 (8 showtimes)

Total tickets sold in 6 theaters: 783

Comps: Violent Night (1.1M from previews) had 270 sold tickets in 7 theaters
and Zombieland 2 (2.85M) had 927 sold tickets.

Surprisingly good, as its reviews.
So indeed, also judging from my comps, 2.5M could happen.

Cocaine Bear, counted today for Friday:

NY (AMC Fresh Meadows 7): 122 (7 showtimes)
Miami (AMC Sunset Place 24): 15 (8 showtimes)
Grand Rapids (AMC Grand Rapids 18): 20 (3 showtimes)
Austin (AMC Lakeline 9): 11 (5 showtimes)
Tempe/Phoenix (AMC Centerpoint 11): 49 (6 showtimes)
San Francisco (AMC Metreon 16): 152 (6 showtimes)
LA (AMC Universal): 215 (9 showtimes)

Total tickets sold in 7 theaters: 584

Comps: Violent Night (13.5M OW) had 309 sold tickets,
Ambulance (8.7M) had 391 sold tickets
Free Guy (28.4M) had 624 sold tickets
and Zombieland 2 (26.8M) had 905 sold tickets.

So CB seems to be a bit more frontloaded than some of the comps but still, 15M+ OW would be my guess. Also due to the better than expected reviews.

A nice jump in seats sold overnight and this morning/afternoon. Looks like a new showing was added yesterday evening which helped. I'm expecting it to plateau again during tomorrows check

Does anyone know why Canada (or at least Cineplex) hasn't been selling advance tickets for Shazam?

In general, I've been finding less advance sale situations. Creed isn't up for example, even though it's a week out.

I have a smaller Cineplex near me (8 screens) and they used to always have the Thursday previews. They release showtimes on Tuesday evening, so, I could usually see what's going to play the week after based on previews (and what's being dropped, which I've used to motivate myself to see things before they dropped off)

That's stopped outside of Antman recently. Even tonight, there's no Cocaine Bear playing, but it's on tomorrow night.

I'm not sure if they're buying more time before committing the screens.

Shazam had the same test-screening scores as Black Adam. And if recent rumors are true, the movie is not good and WB decided to not spend money on reshoots they wrote and scheduled, and spend those money elsewhere instead. WB just wrote it off.

Black Adam was awful. I sincerely hope that the sequel to Shazam is nowhere near that bad -- the original is in my top 4 DCEU movies.

Cineplex is always like this. It took forever to finally see Scream VI tickets on sale.

Yup, just looking at a handful of theatres in my region, I'd be shocked if Cocaine Bear didn't reach 2M previews tonight. So far my lowest comp points to 1.9M. Next is 2.2, 2.4, and then 5.5 (which is an outlier that I'm not even going to bother factoring in).

SHAZAM 2 absolutely completed reshoots.
