Thor L&T is clearly a comedic film but the best thing or the ones that work well for me are the serious and emotional elements. A lesson for the next one hopefully.

Natalie Portman stole the show and deservedly so after the first 2 Thor movies.

Feels weird how I am more optimistic for it. I think $350M is happening.

Youre not really optimistic, you just cant accept/live with the fact that Dominion will outgross Thor.

Spoiler

That would be great legs actually. Like a A/A- cinemascore MCU movie. Didn't GOTG2 opened to 146m for 390m total?? And that was much well received

GotG2 released the first weekend of May and, I assume, had more new competition than TLT will deal with and TLT of course the second weekend of July release in the heart of summer days.

Can TLT get to 145M+ with the 41.75M Saturday? Could be close if the Sunday drop is soft.

Isnt this the summer of lower-than-expected numbers overall though?

Doctor Strange was expected to hit 200M OW and atleast 450M+ total. It did neither.

Dominion was expected to hit 170M+ OW and 500M+ total. It did neither

Thor was expected to hit atleast 150M+ OW and 400M+ total. It will do neither.

Lightyear was expected ... well. You know the story.

The only real overperformers in this sense are (obviously) Top Gun and Minions.

Have a feeling Bullet Train won't work either.

I tend to agree? That Sat went up from Tfri, albeit slightly, is a decent sign. I think the fans turned on Thor quickly, but that it was less reliant on that audience and more GA friendly than say MoM points to a decent run

I think it looks entertaining, but every time the trailer plays you can hear a pin drop, there’s no reaction to the comedy at all.

Although that could be because it’s an overplayed trailer, I swear it’s been on everything I’ve seen for at least the last 4 months.

The only two movies that really delivered what their respective audiences wanted/expected, and in the case of TGM, went way over that bar and expanded the pool significantly

Top Gun is a historic over performer, though.
