Marvels gets screwed. Maybe SAG just wanted to screw over Disney before making the deal.

Yeah because SAG is to blame here sure.

Well, saying the AMPTP wanted to screw over Disney doesn't make sense...

The point is, the Point of No Return, or At Least the Point Where Massive Actor Promotion Would Help The Marvels passed a while ago. SAG isn't "sticking it" to Disney here, intentionally or otherwise.

They could have been smart and delayed it like Dune was, but they didn’t.

Honestly, give how well the first one did, it shouldn’t have needed a big promotion boost.

Yeah let's not start a dubious narrative about sag wanting to "screw" any specific movie over. This has always just been about getting the best deal possible for their members and going on strike as long as necessary to get there, and there is no good reason to think otherwise.

It was likely more expensive to delay the movie, while the benefit from actors promotion wouldn't be so big.

So, I don't think it was really a bad decision to mantain the premiere day.

John Cena just got destroyed at WWE Crown Jewel. Strike really must be about to end.

yeah wrestling insiders basically reported cena would be in wwe till the strikes ended. So him getting completely wiped out, makes me think he's definitely on his way back to Hollywood.

Okay if John Cena losing at a pay for view is a good sign for the strike ending so be it! Wait these matches are scripted. It's like you are telling me Santa Claus is not real.

Not to totally derail here, but remember pro wrestlers take a pretty big beating to pull of those “stunts” like any stunt person would. Can’t fake everything. That’s why the ones who get famous enough gtfo for Hollywood, most don’t want to be going through all that when they’re no longer young (side note, how is Cena nearing 50, geez I feel old)

SAG-AFTRA & Studio CEOs Meeting Over; Guild Brass Conferring On “Historic” Contract Proposal From AMPTP

https://deadline.com/2023/11/actors-strike-studio-proposal-ceo-meeting-1235593291/

Quote

On this the 114th day of the actors strike, the top brass from Netflix, Disney, NBCUniversal, Amazon, Sony, Warner Bros Discovery and more spoke with SAG-AFTRA leaders met by zoom for approximately an hour to discuss the new document. “This is a full package, forward looking and fair,” a studio insider told Deadline of what the CEOs put on the virtual table.

Quote

“CEOs told them this was a historic package for the guild including strong AI protections,” said an exec close to the negotiations. “SAG-AFTRA now needs to get back to us,” another studio vet stated of where things are.

Quote

The package from the studios is said to include, but not be limited to, the highest wage increase in 40 years, and a 100% increase in performance compensation bonuses for high budget streaming series and movies. As well, so-called “full” AI protections are in there. The last measure “goes a long way to what SAG wanted,” an industry vet says.

Fingers crossed we get the actual news soon. If not over the weekend, 1st thing on Monday. I presume once the notification is done, even before ratification, actors can promote their movies. Brie and others go kray promoting Marvels :-) She along with rest of cast/crew will be also at Las Vegas Fan screening if the strike is off by then.

if it ends in the next few days it will be bitter sweat, just in time for late November and December films to get proper marketing, and films that had finished filming but needed reshoots enough time to get them done before release, but too late for any 2024 movie, that has not finished/started filming yet to not be delayed heavily
