Weekdays Thread (5/15-18) | Guardians $5.18M Monday

Recommended Posts

This has probably already been discussed but I was looking at the number of showtimes today for FX and they are starting here in Toronto at 3:00 in the afternoon, it's basically a full day of showing.

Even with these big releases, Guardians can sit at the top 10 by the end of the summer season.

Guardians will be a top 10 grosser of the summer season if that's what you mean but by August it will be in like no screens so it won't be in the weekend top 10. There's like 15 big films coming from now until then.

Comps with  yesterday is showing 3.06m. But I expect it to under index a bit. Let us hope for 3.15m.

Nearly 33% drop doesnt seem right for Thursday. Even Thor Ragnorak only dropped 17% against much stiffer competition in Justice League.

I dont remember when JL previews started but its unlikely to have happened at 2PM like this one. At major markets Guardians lost all their Imax/Dolby shows today. That is worse than anything I have seen before. It lost 28% of shows at my end.

Edit: that said its just sample data. So it could be off a bit. yesterday it was 21.6% of market. Its possible other 78.4% held significantly better. Especially ones with very few PLF/Imax. So I have to say I am not sure at all.
