A little The Last Omen update:

It had today counted for Thursday 82 sold tickets with showtimes in all of my 7 theaters.

Best sales in the AMCs in NY and San Francisco.

Comps (all counted on Monday of the release week for Thursday): The Invitation (775k from previews) had 96 sold tickets,

The Exorcist 2 (2.9M) had 850,

M3gan (2.75M) had 274,

The Nun 2 (3.1M) had 459

and Prey for the Devil (660k) had 115 sold tickets.

Still not doing great but it improved. And maybe its jump till Wednesday is bigger than normal because in the last few days the focus was on Easter and GxK.

Monkey Man later today (nice numbers).

Spider-man (2002) has good sales. ~950 tix sold in 17 shows.

In normal ratios, would mean $300-500K sales nationwide.

Spider-man (2002) - 1972/6738 (31 showings) $13K.

That's like $600-700K nationwide worth. Could be more. With 15 days to go, wonder if Spider-man could be #1 that day.

Monkey Man had today 709 sold tickets for Thursday (with showtimes in 7 theaters).

Comps (all counted on Monday of the release week for Thursday): Dungeons and Dragons (4.1M Thursday only) had 724 sold tickets = 4M.

Argylle (1.7M) had 631 = 1.9M.

Uncharted (3.7M) had 868 = 5.45M.

And BT (4.6M) had 879 sold tickets = 3.7M.

Average preview number: 3.75M.

Please take that number with a big grain of salt because IMO that's too optimistic. It could have better walk-ups than Argylle (so 2-2.5M+ could happen) but I doubt that it can compete with e.g. Uncharted. Still, for the moment, nice presales.

Just...  as is always my #1 Piece of Advice: Don't bite off more than you can chew.  🙂

This is why I have had to cut back on the amount I was doing and comps and all that. Was getting to be a bit more than I could, and with my own life just busy I try where I can to get in. It IS easy to fall into the "hey Im on a groove let me do more" track if one isnt prepared for it lol.

On a personal note I AM quite thrilled to see the amount of Canadian trackers now posting in various areas, and posting in the Canada forum as well as here, gives an even bigger picture up here-always good to see  fellow canuckians ;)

Perhaps I am being too kind with the comps (all super short windows or super huge late breakouts), but I don't think it makes much sense to comp it with other horror movies since this had such a short window. If the week's growth doesn't reflect that I will adjust the comps.

Minnesota Previews:

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (T-38, Day 1):

Day: T-38, T-37 Shows New Sold Seats % Sold
Thursday: 5 theaters 16 38 38 3318 1.15
Wednesday May 8 EA: 18 theaters 22 37 37 5010 0.74
TOTALS: 38 75 75 8328 0.9

Quirky stuff, the EA showings are all on sale, but for Thursday previews only a few theaters (MTC1, Alamo, and CMX) have showtimes available, many others still blocked off (even PLF showings). Take that in mind when looking at these comps.

Day 1 Comps:

0.26x Godzilla x Kong: $2.6 Million

0.43x Ghostbusters Frozen Empire: $2.04 Million

1.01x Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom: $4.56 Million

0.39x Hunger Games BoSS: $2.25 Million

0.38x FNAF: $3.9 Million

Not a lot to glean from here with the strange Day 1 release, but not bad, definitely some interest there. Anyone got comps in mind for this movie?

Since it's a longer sales window, and from what I can see it's just PLFs, I would think Oppenheimer could actually work as a comp here if you have it. Otherwise I'd also throw out Dune since it was also a decently long-ish window and had EA, plus major PLF skew.
