This news is just BAFFLING to me.  The movie was, presumably, finished or close to being finished.  What purpose does it serve them to delay it by 10 FUCKING MONTHS?

sure, but I mean it's a cheapo horror movie.  it can't be that hard to do a few reshoots for this.

The only reason I can think of is that the movie just isn't good, and they're nervous its quality would impact Deadpool 2 and Dark Phoenix.

This is definitely possible. I had got a screening invite for a week ago, maybe the feedback was just awful. Kind of surprised they didn't take the President's Day 5-6 day OW instead of the week after though.

If they're not planning massive reshoots or something, then this just makes no sense.

 

Thinking about it, perhaps one possibility is that they watched the movie and it's not good, and thus they said "heh, lets save it for after the Disney deal is finalized".

Also bad test screenings doesn't mean jack shit for if a film is good or not.  although it could mean the film may not be as accessible to mainstream audiences.

The last movie to be pushed back this much this close to release was probably GI Joe: Retaliation.

Reminds me of GI Joe 2, dont think that one had reshoots either. Think they sensed a bomb in April, two weeks before Avengers. Not sure it'll do better in Feb, two weeks before Capt Marvel, but hey

It had reshoots, they bumped up Tatum's role and changed the entire third act in that movie.

I thought I remembered them delaying it so they could post convert it to 3D and add more Channing Tatum, so yeah they did reshoot it.
