JAPAN BOX OFFICE | Demon Slayer breaks all time record for OW

Recommended Posts

Anyone care to guess what kind of multiplier TMNT will have here?

Maybe 5x or 6x? Or more if it's well-received in Japan.

How would you put Japan gross numbers into US numbers?  I once read a comment concerning this topic from Corpse but can't seem to find it.

~ By putting these numbers into the US domestic perspective, would that mean Frozen grossed $900 million US domestic from the Japan market if you use 4.5 as the multiplier?

Usually the #10 movie of the year makes around $30m, and there are only 1 or 2 movies (or none) above $100m each year, so I think 4.5 multiplier is acceptable.

Will Big Hero 6 run until the Golden week with enough screens to make an impact at the box office or will there be way too much competition by then ?

Golden week is too far ahead. Way too many films will be released by then, including fellow Disney 'Into the Woods' and 'Cinderella'

Wow Detective Conan and Dragon Ball on the same day. Does Cinderella has any other competition? Because with that schedule it will easily dominates Golden Week.

Japan once again proving its superior taste.

Corpse :

Fifty Shades of Grey is looking to disappoint in Japan. Its ticket sales so far today (Friday) is only suggesting, maybe, a ¥25 million ($200,000) opening day. If it doesn't see a spike in evening attendance, it'll be lucky to reach ¥100 million (less than $1 million) over the weekend frame (3rd/4th place debut).
