Recommended Posts

2ND UPDATE: A source close to the Scott family just confirmed to Deadline that famed movie director and TV producer Tony Scott “has passed away. We ask that the family’s privacy be respected at this time.” The LAPD tells Deadline it received a 911 call at 12:35 PM today about a man who jumped off the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro. The body of the man was recovered from the water at approximately 3 PM by the Los Angeles Port Police. The Coroner’s Office identified the man as Anthony D. Scott, 68, who resides in Beverly Hills, according to Watch Commander Lt Timothy Nordquist of LAPD Harbour Area division talking to Deadline. Lt. Nordquist also said that Scott “seemed to be alone”. Hollywood is shocked by this tragic news because Scott had a lauded and thriving career. He’s known for such Hollywood blockbusters as Top Gun,Days Of Thunder, Beverly Hills Cop II, and a remake of The Taking of Pelham 123. In recent months he was busy developing a Top Gun sequel with Tom Cruise. He had been setting up a remake of the Walter Hill movie Warrior about street gangs. And he had most recently directed the 2010 actioner Unstoppablestarring Chris Pine and Denzel Washington for 20th Century Fox and produced that studio’s Summer 2012 blockbuster Prometheus directed by his brother Ridley Scott. The Scott brothers were chairmen of Scott Free Productions which also produces TV shows like CBS’ The Good Wife and the long-running Numb3rs

He often casted Denzel, wonder how he's dealing with this news. This is just so shocking. Just goes to show that depression hits everyone, old, young, rich, poor. While suicide rates for the elderly are high, there is usually a terminal illness or lost loved one involved. There is more to this story, obviously, I'm sure we will soon find out what caused him to feel so hopeless.RIP and my condolences to all who loved him.
