Expected $50 for RPO pre-release and hoped for $75+. $150-$175 would have been jaw-dropping. $200-$225 is a miracle. It's gonna match/beat TF5.

What RPO has done in China is fabulous. $200M+ is absolutely phenomenal.

So we are looking at these results in China for these movies in $

BP 105 million (finished its run)

PRU 95-100 million (fizzled very quickly)

TR 80 million (pretty much done there too)

RP1 215-220 million

 

Terrible for PRU while the others did extremely good

Are we sure RP1 can still hit 200m? Seems like pretty hefty drops.

 

PRUs number is good, only from the perspective any Hollywood studio would love a 100m film in China. The only reason it's not actually good is because it was made specifically for that market. They were probably expecting a 200m result there.

PS down more than 50%. Demand burn big time. I guess $225m is the ceiling for a gamer but I thought this could spread to the GA a bit unlike WC. Never seen a movie blow up then fizzle out so fast

PS for tomorrow is 6.5 right now which is down 58% from yesterday. Should increase and be at about 50% down overnight. 

 

Now today the PS and actual gross drop was exactly the same, i.e. nearly 40%. If same trend continue on Sunday then gross will also drop around 50% to about 44-45m yuan. 

 

Hindi Medium with about 36% drop and made 24.5m for a total of 125 ($19.7m usd). It’s PS for tomorrow is also down about 45% from today. Still a remarkable run so far for a small Indian movie

I think after 1st weekend the expectations got screwed up and people were expecting $250m+ easily. 

Nevertheless $225m or so is great number for the movie which could have only done around $40-45m with initial expectations.

 

Another thing is RPO genre limits its audience. It cannot attract people from all age and sections. Hence it was performing extremely well in cities and not that great in other places.

Drop today will be around 50% but monday will not have a typical drop so it evens out a bit. But 250 mill is no longer possible.

It should land in the 200-220 mill $ area
