The Interview | Limited Release on December 25, 2014

China and North Korea don't understand artistic license. We don't censor things for being in poor taste. They don't understand that, because they just ban things they don't like.

Yes exactly. Movies are more like propaganda tools to them. I remember reading an interview with keanu reeves where he talks about working with china to make man of tai chi and he said how they objected to the corrupt cop being from mainland china, but were fine with them being from hong kong. I've also read about china banning time travel dramas because they think it will taint real history or or something.

It must be so suffocating to be a aspiring film maker or artist in these kind of countries. That's why we have to get movies like the interview released, to show that we respect the creators wish to make the movie and the audiences wish to see it.

North Korea Says US Behind ‘The Interview,’ Threatens to ‘Blow Up’ White House

http://www.thewrap.com/north-korea-says-us-behind-the-interview-threatens-to-blow-up-white-house/

Business as usual from North Korea, this is probably like the 500th time they threatened to "annihilate" the US yet our pathetic theater chains took a "9/11 style" attack on their theaters seriously.

We better not release The Interview guys, or the North Koreans are gonna kick our asses with their 1.5 million 5 foot tall malnourished troops and 45 year old planes once their ICBMs fail to launch.

EXCLUSIVE: SONY HACKERS ISSUE NEW LIST OF DEMANDS

The North Korean hackers at Sony Pictures, now emboldened by Sony cancelling its release of the comedy “The Interview", have issued a new list of demands that have been obtained exclusively by MichaelMoore.com. They are:

1. Any studio who gives away the ending of a movie in the trailer, or who has placed every single funny line that exists in a movie inside the trailer, will be shown their own particular ending.

2. No movie shall be longer than two hours. If you can’t tell your story in less than two hours, you are creatively lost and in need a new line of work. Only true masterpieces may exceed the two-hour time limit. And that doesn’t mean you, Mr. Lars von Trier.

3. Theaters may not charge patrons more for 3D movies. Studios who use 3D in a movie when it isn’t necessary, shall be met with a serious 2D response.

4. Unless the sequel you’ve made matches the quality of ‘Godfather II’, all other sequels are now banned. And if you’ve made ‘Godfather II’, that does not give you the right to make ‘Godfather III’.

5. Anyone caught texting or talking on a cell phone during a movie will be subjected to forced rectal rehydration (yes, we are plagiarizing from the CIA. So what? Nolan didn't see '2001: A Space Odyssey'?)

6. Theaters must present the movies as if they are works of art, making sure that the sound and picture are perfect, the seats are comfortable, the auditoriums are clean and no TV commercials are shown before the movie. People did not pay $12 to watch TV commercials. They paid that money to watch ‘Transformers 9’.

7. Popcorn must not cost more than $2. Any theater owner who says, ‘We make our money on the popcorn!’ shall be hence banned from selling popcorn. Theaters shall also be banned from selling pizza, sushi, sloppy joes, GoGurt®, sauerkraut or anything with curry in it.

8. Liam Neeson may continue making those ‘Taken’ movies. We like them.”

Dish Network Chairman Charlie Ergen declined the deal for unspecified reasons, Fox reports

A plan to distribute “The Interview” over DISH Network fell apart after talks between Sony and the satellite TV provider broke down over the weekend.

According to Fox Business News, the Seth Rogen-James Franco comedy at the center of the Sony hacking could have been streamed into living rooms as early as Christmas Day.

However, Dish Network Chairman Charlie Ergen declined the deal for unspecified reasons.

Sony declined to comment.

More to come…

Sony really should just launch this at the small theaters that want to show it and get that massive PTA so the chains will have no choice but to show it.

Yes, shame theatres into showing it.  Have ads naming theatres who won't show it.

"Seth Rogen, James Rogen in The Interview.  The movie North Korea don't want you to see.

But not at AMC.  They're to chicken."

Sony Set To Announce ‘The Interview,’ Theatrical, VOD Release (Exclusive)

http://www.thewrap.com/sony-set-to-announce-the-interview-theatrical-vod-release-exclusive/

After a national clamor to release the film despite threats, Sony finds a way to get the comedy out there

Sony Pictures is set to release the cancelled Seth Rogen comedy “The Interview” in theaters and on video on demand, TheWrap has learned.

The plan is apparently to release the film simultaneously in participating theaters and via video on demand. The Plaza theater in Atlanta and a theater in Austin have now said they will distribute the film.

The studio is expected to announce the planned release on Tuesday, according to an individual with knowledge of the studio’s plans.

Momentum has been growing across the country to reverse a decision to cancel the movie’s Christmas Day theatrical release after threats and a cyber-hack by North Korea.

A plan to distribute “The Interview” over Dish Network fell apart after talks between Sony and the satellite TV provider broke down over the weekend.

The exact list of distributors was not immediately available, but the Art House Convergence, a national coalition of smaller, independent movie theaters, on Monday told Sony Pictures that its members are also willing and anxious to screen “The Interview.”
