Elessar
BOM updated foreign gross: $691m. Can it still hit $700m? Gonna be close...
picores
Dont think so. In fact, i would not be surprised if BOM never update the number again.
Elessar
It's still gonna do a couple millions in Japan, i don't think it's the end of the updates. That said, i'm also leaning towards no regarding $700m, legs in Japan are probably not good enough. Edited March 27, 2014 by Elessar

keysersoze123
Legs in japan were absolutely atrocious. Very rarely does a blockbuster have this horrible legs. So much for DOS having "stronger" WOM.

It didn't have stronger WOM. There were large drops in so many countries but it managed to stay almost on par due to the big increase in China. I think the legs were ok. It's just that the opening was terrible even if it had ok/good legs, it didn't really make any difference.
Olive
Opening and legs were both terrible.
baumer
I'm really baffled by the love this film gets. I understand the love of the original trilogy. But the Hobbit, imo, is so different from the originals, it's all CGI, it's quite boring throughout and there aren't any of the fun characters to root for from the first. all my opinion of course. But the success of the Hobbit films is really confusing to me.

baumer
The drop from LoTR films is enormous when it comes to admissions. Yes, this is true. But not many films make a billion dollars or close to it. This film is still immensely popular in most markets.

It's based on one of the most well known children's book and it has the following from LoTR.
