Reactions are muted cautiously positive. It's a spectacle, long but time flies (which is good) and third act delivers (also good). But more of the same. Reviews will be likely on par with the first in the best case scenario. Don't think they'll be better.

Not exactly better, but way more excited. 

 

The overall feeling for TG was that people was actually surprised it's so good... Maybe because i don't think anyone was expecting much 

 

Which isn't the case with Avatar. The good words are similar, but less exciting and surprised by the quality.

 Top Gun reactions were pure praise from the critics circuit, so yes ofc.

 

So far I've only seen Robbie from the Telegraph posted here.

This movie lives or dies with general audience reception, considering very obvious bias against Avatar on social media, I couldn't care less about critics reception.

I think one of the key points to take away from these reactions so far is just how many of them have said the film is better than the first.

I just wanted a film that matches the first film, a film i adored. So this is all good for me.

seems like some folks are still complaining about HFR, wonder if that had an meaningful effect in their enjoyment of the movie

gonna wait at least a week after release so that I can an opinion from people whove seen it in both formats
