Mark Ronson who is curating the music for the movie basically alluded to it in the same interview that the quote is from since the interviewer directly follows up by asking about Billie, and Billie posted the quote on her Instagram story. The personal tie is also the stuff she posted on her story having grown up with Barbie and it affecting her deeply.

Very high. History says there has to be a huge blockbuster in summer that we’ve yet to have, tracking is going nuts, buzz on social continues to be through the roof (as it has been ever since that pic of Margot in the car last year, hence why I’ve been insisting all along this will be huge).
 

Some very early reactions we’re getting too now suggesting the movie indeed is typical Gerwig high quality. It’s gonna be freakin massive. I am genuinely starting to wonder if Mario needs to worry about its 2023 crown.

I think we can all guess how premiere reactions will go. Curious to see the critic ones though.

Premiere happening on LA right now. Screenings on LA and NY (the biggest cities for the industry) in the next days, rest of US on July 18 at the same time of Oppenheimer. 
 

Reactions should drop in 4-5 hours, first wave of reviews on Thursday.

Reactions are tonight. While it seems like it'll be good, and WB has spent all their remaining money on this films marketing, it'd be hilarious if it or Oppenheimer turned out to be bad after how much the barbenheimer stuff has been built up
