This is a scary movie for little kids, right ?

Having the giant face of Mark Rylance for 1h30 is the stuff nightmares are made of.

Disturbing stuff.

All the reviews are saying the movie is free of darkness

It seems the American critics liked it but didn't love it but the British critics loved it. It looks very faithful to the source material down to the dialogue. This does give me hope that Ready Player One will be good in Spielberg's hands.

So some of the people fleeing during this screening were actually just leaving to queue up for a press conference?

If a film was good, I wouldn't leave.

It's pretty common at festivals... there was a write-up about it during the whole "farting corpse movie" hoopla last year. A bunch of people show up to see the big stars and/or famous director, but after the red carpet they tend to bail because they're not interested in really seeing the movie. Add to that more people like sales agents and stuff, and they don't stay to watch much either.

I assume actors don't stay to watch the whole film when it's a premiere in a different country even if it's good, it must be kind of dull seeing it over and over again

Ah no that's different. That's film premieres and conferences before films, where the talent will usually leave before the film starts.

This was a screening for critics, where people were walking out halfway through the film. One critic (he did the 5 star review for Telegraph) told me they must have been writers for low-level publications, who have the queue for the press conference that followed.

Variety reported it as "dozens of people fled" though, and that hasn't been mentioned for any other screenings.
