$10 million sounds impossible after the opening weekend Power Rangers had in Japan:

Even considering that Super Sentai movies typically don't open #1 in Japan, that still sounds very, very low for PR at $575,000.  It has to be a major disappointment for Toei, since they co-own the Power Rangers property with Saban Brands.

That's a below average opening even for Super Sentai films. Kamen Rider films seldom crack $10 million over there, but they do so much better than what Power Rangers has opened with.

Hasbro did well with movies based on it's products when they just  licenced the stuff to a real movie studio, but since they got heavily involved with actually making the movies they have not done too well. Marvel Studios they ain't.

I'm surprised Saban sold Power Rangers again, I think even if Hasbro don't make a Power Rangers movie, they'll likely continue making TV shows and merchandise.

That's why Hasbro bought the franchise.

Not because it was a huge hit at the movies.

Hasbro seems not to have a good grasp of the film industry. It's not a coincidence that the huge successes with Hasbro product based movies is when Hasbro just makes a licending deal and leaves actually making the movies to the studios. They have not had much success heavily involved in producing their own movies.
