SpiderByte
Why are people acting like she was on the creative side? She oversaw post production. This is pretty obviously a response to the VFX crunch stuff. Edited March 20, 2023 by SpiderByte
Mojoguy
Feige was never getting fired, so they went after next big person at Marvel studios. Disney annoyed at Antman flop, even though it's no one cares Antman it was suppose to be a deal since had Kang intro for GA. Lee better watch out if Elemental and Wish flop, she is replaceable. Maggie
Whoever decided to introduce the next big baddie is an AntMan movie should be fired...

It wasn't a bad plan, reception just killed it And Kang was already introduced in Loki

What job do you think Alonso had. This doesn't seem related to Ant-Man at all. Edited March 20, 2023 by SpiderByte
EarlyDeadlinePredictions
Antman 3 floppage has left Disney shook. Lets see if this move helps improve the VFX stuff long term.
JWR
This seems mostly related to the poor treatment of VFX artists. Of course, it doesn't help that this is coming off the heels of Ant-Man 3 not doing well.
thajdikt
Disney/Marvel are either scapegoating or actually doing something about a big issue. The rumors about Alonso wasn´t nice so while this is a huge holy shit if it was anyone from that Marvel team I´m not surprised it was her. Also they didn´t fire her because of one movie, I beg use common sense for once. This is clearly a big part of the VFX stuff and Ant-Man 3 was a big part of that but there is obviously more to it. ChipDerby
Apparently she was also in charge of pushing for diversity. So this is a very mixed bag firing
Hades
She was second in command to Feige..She was there from the start and not just a post production person. Its a very big deal. Im sure she is now wishing Iger had stayed retired.

dudalb
1 hour ago, Maggie said: Whoever decided to introduce the next big baddie is an AntMan movie should be fired... Well, to get technical, he was introduced in the Loki Miniseries. But I agree, picking a Ant Man movie to make his film debut was not a great idea. I suspected some head would roll at Marvel in view of how many of their films have been underperfroming and Alsonso was chosen, possibly in response to the poor CGI in Ant Man. Although IMHO wonky CGI was a long way from being the only thing wrong with the movie.

Appreantly she was in charge of SFX/CGI at Marvel Studios as a whole. So in the end bad CGI was her reponsiblity on the It happened on her watch" theory that most large organizations follow. Valonqar
Alonso wasn't in charge of creative decisions. She treated VFX people like shit for years so you bet that this decision isn't an overnight one. She was on the chopping block since VFX workers made their issues with Marvel public. We don't know when the axe fell but they announced it today. When a big gun falls they always give them time to find another lucrative position in another big company to bully people there. These people always do well. Ant Man 3 flopping is not on her. She'll be a popular scapegoat cause PapaFeigeCan'tDoWrong. But it didn't flop because of VFX.
