Kong: Skull Island | March 10, 2017 | Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, John Goodman | Crosses 500M WW

This has a lower average score than Hobbit 3 right now (which now - long after its release - dropped into rotten territory and barely managed to stay fresh with the "original" reviews).

I do not care, as I mainly want to see it because I am interested in their approach... but I am not sure this looks promising on the critics' front.

I find JW to be fun but cannot understand why it was such a mind-blowing boxoffice hit. People just can't get enough of dinosaurs or what? It definitely wasn't Pratt Powah (see The Passengers, The Magnificent 7). I don't think that Kong and Zilla carry the same boxoffice value.

Well, JW made that much due to the nostalgia from the previous JP-films. $1.6B WW, it earned. And that film got a pretty good reception from critics & audience alike.

That's a funny thing with nostalgia, it could post enormous #'s like TFA and JW, or just do business as usual.

Could potentially miss out on #1 then if Logan does $85m.

Unless Logan has legs like an average X Men movie, which are bad regardless of critical reception. Overhyped and overrated DOFP dropped like a stone by 64.2% from 90.8M to 32.5M. Overrated and overhyped First Class dropped by 56.2%.

I actually think if an X-Men movie is going to break that trend, it'll be Logan. It's easily the best one I've seen, even better than X-2 (yes, I enjoyed that one more than DoFP).

I'm hoping for that too. Emotional movies have better holds and repeating viewing count. X Men movies just weren't that.

Overrated Logan will drop more than 50%...

I liked it(7/10)but isn't better than X-Men 2 or First Class.

This film is crazy... It could literally do anywhere from 30-60m opening weekend. There's no way it'll have worse legs than GODZILLA though. Just want it to hit like 120m domestically and overseas will save it.

In other news, the RT score is slowly RISING again. At 83%.
