Solid number for Purge 2. I don't think it will collapse as badly as Purge did since people seem to be liking it better. Might just about threaten 30M for the weekend.

 

According to notfabio, Purge seemed to play better on the west coast yesterday, so hitting 14M may be possible.

It'll be frontloaded probably, so around a 30m opening weekend. A little less than the first if that Friday is anything to go by.

 

Still good considering the budget.

9.5-10.5 is a 63-80% bump for Apes.

A 30% Sat bump and 23% drop on Sunday gives a 31.35- 34.65 weekend (drop of 52-57%).

The Purge collapsed after opening day due to extremely negative word of mouth. Purge 2 may actually end up with a better internal weekend multiplier IMO. Almost all comments on twitter for Purge 2 seem to be "It was much better than the first one".

 

I think matching the previous installments multiplier is itself a feat, as sequels are always front-loaded in the ow.

So it might not have a worse multiplier, but don't think it can go above 2-2.1 even in the best case.
