lilmac
Oblivion made about a million at roughly the same wknd gross point. I think EoT will have no problem crossing $200m.

Rudolf
So Guardians will definitely be the top movie of Summer. Has anyone that film better than 7th for the Baumer-game?
Gopher
It's old news but the fact that Edge is struggling to hit 100 speaks wonders about how mishandled its marketing/release was. It'll hit a 3.5x, it's a crowdpleasing film, it just opened to nothing.
kitik
Time to think what kind of numbers can GOTG2 do? 350m? Something much better discussed in the GOTG2 thread, but as big as GOTG is, it's safe to say that GOTG is the type of film that a lot of folks will NOT see in the theater. It's still out there and unknown. Which means folks will discover it as a rental or on tv. Which means GOTG2 should have a good potential for growth.

And Thanos' backstory and connection to TA3 could also help it's potential growth.

It'll hit a 3.5x, it's a crowdpleasing film, it just opened to nothing. That dreary brown and gray campaign that was used up to the release did it absolutely no favors. I keep hearing the film had a sense of humor, but the trailer I saw felt like Saving Private Groundhog. The CRUISE/BLUNT/EDGE "do-over" was too little, too late, but at least it showed more humor.
Punishment
So Guardians will definitely be the top movie of Summer. Has anyone that film better than 7th for the Baumer-game? Only one person had it in their top 5 (4th), everyone else had it 7th or lower.
Moviedweeb
Can anyone confirm whether the additional 40 or so theaters for Edge two weekends ago was the dollar run or can we expect another expansion. Still looking for a double feature with Godzilla to get this to $102m or so. Probably a bit optimistic but we shall see.

Agreed... even with a 270-280 million finish, there's definitely room for the sequel to gross $325 million+ if it provides a solid lead-in to Avengers 3.
