I really didn't care about this flick, and don't plan on watching it. But I have to say: it's overseas performance has been stunning! Absolutely stunning!

Especially for a 2D movie. Especially considering how strong the dollar is right now. Just WOW.

Does this movie have the power to get 1B OS?  It is amazing that with the power Potter had over the world, it still didn't get anywhere close, except for DH2, and it still ended up 53M short.  It just goes to show how awesome the runs of Titanic and Avatar truly are.  I'm hoping for Furious 7 to become only the third movie ever to get 1B OS.

UNIVERSAL PICTURES INTERNATIONAL

China once again served noticed of its status as a colossal tentpole driver as a further $93.3m boosted the tally to $250.5m in eight days – accounting for approximately 21% of the film’s $1.153bn worldwide running total thus far.

Fast & Furious 7 became the fastest release to cross one billion RMB – five days – and ranks as the second biggest earner in history behind Transformers: Age Of Extinction’s $320m. That record now looks shaky.

On Friday Universal confirmed Fast & Furious 7 had crossed $1bn worldwide in an industry record 17 days. The current score includes $294.4m from North America, where the action smash known as Furious 7 retained pole position for the third consecutive weekend.

Fast & Furious 7 roared into Japan on $6m in a new franchise record there. This was the final of 67 markets to open.

Elsewhere the film continued to power ahead. The UK has generated $46.9m, Mexico $45.6m, Brazil $32.4m, Germany $32.1m, Australia $28.6m, Russia $27m, France $25.3m and India $24.2m.

Taiwan has generated $23.1m, South Korea $21.3m, Argentina $20.9m, Venezuela $19.6m, Italy $18.5m and the Middle East $17.8m.

Fast & Furious 7 ranks as the highest grossing film of all time in Indonesia, Malaysia, UAE and Vietnam.

Well, adjusting for inflation there are several movies that would have reached that amount with relative ease. And without China "doping".

But yes, this will be the third film reaching that amount. And maybe within a month we will be talking about a fourth one.

It will definitely gross over $1B OS. It's run in China is only 10 days, and I can see it grossing another $100+M over the next 2 weeks. Besides that, it will only need less than $50M from the rest of OS countries, which it will accomplish. So the question should be more WHEN than IF.

On Friday? Wouldn't those numbers be for Thursday? Making it 16 days?

With 2012 exchange rates it would have had a shot at 3rd place I think.

It has a shot. 196m ww weekend? with 360m to go. I know TA2 will knock it down but that was a great hold for OS and China was insane. There will be many TA2 sellouts and therefore shutouts that'll go to see FF7. Its obviously has WOM in many places still. That'll give it legs after next weekends hit. A big release is not the end of the world,

Look at TA and IM3's OW and 2W. holdovers all take a hit then have smaller than usual drops a week later. HG just 19% w WOM. Pain and Gain, Oblivion,  The Lucky one and The Five Year long Crappy Movie were not WOM blockbusters but had great holds of 25-25%  in the midst of a big second weekend and a new release of 29mdark shadows and 50mGatsby in respective years.  This year there aren't any other large releases the following week to take more screens or moviegoers.  It may get hit up to 60% but look for 20% or better the following week.

China 160m+

OS 125M+

DOM 65m

Its gonna be close to #3 or blow past it if China does the unexpected    :OMG:

Who would had thought this would be the first non Cameron billion OS movie...

Was just about to post that. Of all the movies... *shakes head in disbelieve*

Still expect to wake up from a dream...

Maybe the success of it will hurt AOU somewhat, one can only hope. ;)
