Wknd Estimates: Nolan = 50M | BH6 = 56M+(pg 72) (who cares, our forum lives!)

also Mccounghey isn't a dicaprio or bale

This. DiCaprio is the one who probably looks best right now from all of this. I didn't think he was that big of a deal in terms of Inception's OW, but he clearly played a fact. However, I also think marketing, release date, lack of competition, better WOM (yeah, it's OW, but WOM travels fast these days), better RT scores, and just better trailers helped Inception beat Interstellar.

In other words, everything WB did right, Paramount did wrong.

Not marketing a certain actor was almost certainly the right call in terms of narrative revelations.

Otherwise the minute a certain character was namedropped multiple times, everyone with at least a quarter of a brain would realize that the certain actor is going to appear at some point as the certain character.

I'm actually happy they didn't do that, since it would have likely have spoiled a plot twist in the film.

How?

They advertised Jessica Chastain without many people actually knowing who she was.

Like 4815162342 said. From a narrative perspective it made sense. His character was a major spoiler and he was in the last act, which they showed only glimpes of in the marketing.

I'm… pretty sure I figured out who the fuck

Matt Damon

plays in IS just from reading the posts in this thread alone that weren't tagged.

I don't care, honestly. But, um, others might?

Anywhooooo…. BIG HERO 6! WHOOT!

Well, while Paramount didn't really play up the involvement with the film, technically this stuff was known during filming. But whatever. I said nothing about what role said person had in the film, though it wouldn't be difficult to make guesses given secrecy

Except the trailers pretty much told audiences who she was and both the trailers and advertising played up the father-daughter stuff in the movie.
