Guys, this is a Friday numbers thread, we come here for Friday numbers first.  Please don't put weekend estimates in a Friday thread title without the Friday numbers.

Horror movies make most of their money from teenagers , especially girls, so if they were to make them R-rated they are writing off a big chunk of their audience. It can work for some slasher movies but the days of R-rated supernatural/ghost movies are over.

Yea, but this is part of the reason horror is in a bit of a rut.  Texas Chainsaw and Friday and Halloween are all rated R and all made piles of money.  I have no problem with atmosphere over gore, but at the same time, the horror film of the 70/80's needs to make a comeback imo.  Someone needs to make a flat out slasher film, like they did with It Follows., imo

Not to mention the The Conjuring, Annabelle and some of the Paranormal Activity movies are the highest grossing of the recent supernatural movies and they are all rated R.

Babadook was also great, but the set-design and clothing of everything in It Follows was fantastic.

Lots of beautiful Detroit movies lately. It Follows, Lost River (even if not a great movie, certainly beautiful), Only Lovers Left Alive...

It Follows and Lost River both paint Detroit as the unsexiest city in the world; like someone's memory of a place, and the memory is fading.
